Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG Presents Positive Interim Balance Sheet
After the end of the winter season, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG will provide information on the first figures for the 2021/22 financial year. According to the first forecasts, this is extremely positive. The record that was achieved together with Arosa Bergbahnen AG in the 2021/22 winter season is particularly pleasing: the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area recorded 1.4 million guests - more than ever since the ski area connection.
"A remarkable financial year 2021/22 is emerging, which could not have been expected on this scale," says Thomas Küng, CEO of Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG (LBB AG). LBB AG's financial year, which runs from May to April, is expected to close with sales of over CHF 35 million. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic with many planning uncertainties, the financial year again demanded great flexibility from the entire team.
Summer season 2021 slightly below last year
The strong summer in Lenzerheide is particularly striking. "The long-term, positive development of the summer is unabated," says Thomas Küng. The number of guests in the 2021 summer season is slightly below the "exceptional summer 2020", but still well above the 5-year average, despite the mixed weather conditions. Due to the snow conditions, the summer season could not start on the Ascension or Pentecost weekend as in previous years, but only in mid-June.
Best winter season 2021/22 since the ski area connection
LBB AG set a record in the 2021/22 winter season together with Arosa Bergbahnen AG as the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area: the ski area delighted over 1.4 million guests - that is more guests than ever since the opening of the ski area connection in the 2013/2013 winter season. 14 "In times of crisis, there is a return to holidays and leisure time in Switzerland," Thomas Küng is convinced. The recipe for success included the per se high proportion of Swiss guests in the Arosa Lenzerheide ski area, the consistently good slope conditions and the many sunny days and few stormy days.
Outlook for the 2022/23 financial year
According to the plan, the 2022 summer season will start on Ascension Thursday, May 26, 2022, immediately after the completion of the inspection and conversion work on the Rothorn 1 gondola lift. The transport capacity will be increased to 2,200 people per hour (+20%) with seven additional vehicles. ) elevated. In addition, the redesign of the platform enables an optimal flow of guests when boarding. During the summer, the control of the Cumascheals chairlift will be upgraded to state-of-the-art technology. The labels of the stations will be completely revised and the guest information systems at the entry points will be improved. In addition, two new snow groomers were purchased as replacements.
Bike Kingdom Park in focus
The bike park in Lenzerheide celebrates its 10th anniversary in summer 2022. On this occasion, further investments will be made.
