Copper Mountain Gearing Up For Summer

Copper Mountain is gearing up for an action-packed summer in the mountains with activities, events, programs and weekly meetups returning on June 10. With a loaded summer schedule, Copper will round out the season in a big way during the 2nd Annual Union Peak Festival, featuring a weekend of headline music performances from chart-topping bands such as X Ambassadors and Cold War Kids.

Union Peak Festival Returns Sept. 9-11 

The largest gathering of the summer is back for a second year in a row at Copper Mountain. On Sept. 9-11, Union Peak Festival returns, celebrating the convergence of sport, community and art with three days of live music performances, interactive art installations and booths, sports demonstrations and community gatherings. The Athlete’s Mountain will celebrate a weekend of elevated pursuits with interactive demos and active meetups including golf clinics, group mountain bike rides, fly fishing casting clinics, sunrise yoga and more. Trail runners are also invited to challenge their high-altitude lung capacity by participating in the Summit Up, a run on the mountain that will test even the most seasoned sprinter. 

Union Peak Festival wouldn’t be complete without a heavy hitting lineup of free music and this year is no different with X Ambassadors and Cold War Kids performing. American pop rock band X Ambassadors best known for their song “Renegades” will open the festival on Friday, Sept. 9 on Copper’s main stage in Eagle’s Landing in Center Village. Cold War Kids, an alt rock band from southern California will perform Saturday, Sept. 10. The headliner for Sunday, Sept. 11 will be announced soon. Jukebox the Ghost and DURRY will also perform as opening acts during the weekend. Guests will also have an option to upgrade their festival experience with a VIP pass. Summer Programming and Events 

Copper is wasting no time igniting excitement for the summer season, celebrating Fourth of July with Red, White, Brews & Tunes presented by 10 Barrel happening July 3-4. With free live music and entertaining on-mountain programs, there’s no better way to embrace the heat of the season. Staple events like the Woodward WreckTangle Challenge and 10 Barrel Smashfest golf tournament are also slated to happen July 30 and August 20, respectively. Copper will also offer free live music in Center Village as part of the resort’s Labor Day weekend celebration.  

Along with a full season of events, Copper’s weekend programming will offer nothing but good times to be had at the mountain. Dance and sing to toe-tapping tunes with free Copper Live performances in Eagle’s Landing. Learn about the mountain landscape while touring the peaks with the Hike With a Ranger program, benefiting the Friends of the Dillon Ranger District. Beer lovers rejoice with the return of Copper’s unique beer experiences. Enjoy a selection of brews with perfectly paired bites at a 10 Barrel Beer Pairing Dinner at Ten Mile Tavern, and on select weekends exert some energy on the way to the party at the on-mountain 10 Barrel Backcountry Brew Pub. 

This summer, Copper aims to bring together a community of active outdoor enthusiasts to the Athlete’s Mountain with the resumption of weekly meetups. Each week, locals and visitors are invited to join in for weekly trail runs, road rides, downhill mountain bike rides and more. A full schedule of summer events, programming and weekly meetups will be made available soon. 

Resort Activities 

Spend the summer exploring all the outdoor experiences Copper Mountain has to offer. With scenic chairlift rides into the high-alpine, hikes that weave their way through meadows and rocky terrain and the opportunity to ride an expanded network of mountain bike trails, Copper encourages visitors to push their boundaries for mountain adventure during the warmer months.  

Beyond the activities offered on the mountain, guests are invited to take to the links on the Copper Creek Golf Course, soaking in the rays of the Rockies and improving their technical golf skills. Families can fill their summer days with a variety of village activities like timed runs through the Woodward WreckTangle and rides on the Rocky Mountain Coaster that will fuel a thrill for the mountain lifestyle. Activities including go-karts, bumper boats on West Lake, the zipline, the bungee jump and climbing wall will also be open for summer.
