Zagreb’s Sljeme Cable Car Opens
With the symbolic push of the red button, Zagreb's Mayor Tomislav Tomašević opened the newly built Sljeme cable car.
The new cable car Sljeme offers passengers an impressive view of Zagreb and its surroundings.
The cable car route is 5,017 meters long and has 84 gondolas, each with ten seats. The journey from the valley station in Gracano dolj to the viewpoint on Sljeme takes 16 to 22 minutes, depending on the driving speed. The cable car can carry up to 1500 passengers per hour.
With the construction of the new cable car, the citizens of Zagreb and all visitors will receive an important facility that will serve the further development of tourist, sports and leisure potential of Sljeme and will certainly contribute to the ecological protection of Sljeme.
The people of Zagreb and its tourists can enjoy the beautiful nature. You can ride in 84 gondolas. Each can accommodate 10 passengers. The ride takes about fifteen minutes. The altitude difference is about 750 meters above sea level. The speed is about 20 kilometers per hour.
Base station Dolje is located at 267 m above sea level, corner station at 308 m above sea level, intermediate station Brestovac at 877 m above sea level, while the station Sljeme is located at 1030 meters above sea level. The cable car can carry about 1500 people per hour and the length of the route is about 5000 meters. The load capacity of one gondola is 800 kilograms. The gondolas are equipped with ski racks.
