Snowsport England Launches Summer Park And Pipe Programme

Snowsport England, supported by GB Snowsport and the Home Nations, are delighted to announce the launch of a summer Park and Pipe Programme in 2022.

The new programme will provide further support to athletes involved in the performance development pathway, extending their training opportunities into the summer for the first time.

The summer provision will place emphasis on training over competition at this time of the year; while encouraging athletes to maximise their own training at their local facilities/slopes.

Freeski Coach Robert Taylor and Snowboard Coach Rowan Coultas will lead the programme for Snowsport England, supported by Head of Talent at GB Snowsport Mark Ritchie and the wider GB Snowsport Park & Pipe team.

GB Snowsport Snowboard Coach Ben Kinnear said: “We at GB Snowsport are really excited to see this programme underpin, evolve and contribute to our World Class Plan for 2026 and beyond. It will bring credible coaches to develop the next generation of athletes from diverse backgrounds to progress as athletes and people.”

The programme will also involve para snowsport athletes with potential, with this part of the initiative led by Snowsport Scotland Para Snowboard Coach Alastair Nasmyth.

Alastair said: “This is a great opportunity for young para snowboarders to get access to quality training with their peers in the UK. With programs like this and our success in the Paralympics, the future looks bright for up-and-coming athletes’.

Freeski Coach Robert Taylor said: “I’m so excited to be part of the summer Park & Pipe programme. Having the opportunity to engage with athletes more frequently is going to make a massive difference with their progression. Also, having the support from GB Snowsport will strengthen the pathway for the athletes to progress to the next level”

Rowan Coultas added: “As an Olympian and former Team GB team member this programme is really exciting to me, I can help as a coach with my experiences and give back to the English Snowsport scene and find the next up-and-coming shredders.

“It will be great to show how much is possible in the UK and how much fun snowboarding is.”

The proposed programme aims to follow the structure outlined here, and have both on snow and off snow activity and training.*
