Mission Hill Hospitality Acquires Killington Mountain Lodge, Tapestry Collection By Hilton In Vermon
Mission Hill Hospitality, a KSL Capital Partners portfolio company focused on transforming select service and extended stay hotel investing, announced it has acquired the Killington Mountain Lodge, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, located in central Vermont’s famed Green Mountains. Terms of the deal are undisclosed. This is the 15th property added to the Mission Hill Hospitality portfolio since the company was launched in March 2021.
“Our strategy is to aggregate a high-quality portfolio of select service and extended stay hotels, particularly in drive-to leisure markets,” said Greg Kennealey, Mission Hill Hospitality CEO. “This well-located asset in Killington, VT, attracts visitors year-round for its close proximity to skiing, golf, hiking and other outdoor activities that continue to drive demand among leisure travelers.”
Killington Mountain Lodge is located less than one mile from the Killington Ski Area, the largest and most visited mountain in Vermont, drawing nearly 1 million visitors annually. It is 30 minutes from Rutland Regional Airport, a three-hour drive from Boston, and five-hour drive from New York City. Killington is positioned in the upper tier of northeast ski areas, with the longest ski season in the East. With 213 trails and 28 lifts, Killington Mountain has invested $50 million in capital expenditures over the past five years, including the brand new 58K sq. ft. "K-1 Base Lodge" opening Spring 2022.
In 2021, Killington Mountain Lodge completed a $5 million capital improvement program with renovations to the entire hotel, including guest rooms, public space, full-service bar and restaurant, and back-of-house operations. The property features 102 guest rooms and nearly 3,000 sq. ft. of total event space. Additional amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, oversized outdoor hot tub, fitness center, and a convenient ski shuttle service for easy access to the slopes.
Killington Mountain will continue to host the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in November 2022, following five years of hosting the international ski competition. The event is one of the top three events on the Women’s FIS World Cup tour and has drawn an increasing number of spectators who converge at Killington each year to cheer on ski racers from around the world.
Additional nearby activities include the area’s many mountain biking and hiking trails, such as the Thundering Falls and Green Mountain trails, and access to the long-distance Appalachian and Long trails. Killington Mountain Lodge is situated on the 6th hole of Killington Golf Course, a public par 72 course and driving range.
