Brian Norton Named President & General Manager Of Loon Mountain Resort
Loon Mountain Resort is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Norton as the resort’s new president and general manager.
Norton began his career at Loon as a lift attendant in 2001 while attending Plymouth State College. He has since held several leadership positions including director of mountain sports development for Loon’s parent company, Boyne Resorts and currently serves as the resort’s vice president of operations. “Loon has been my life for over two decades and I am incredibly excited for the future—both for our team and our guests.” said Norton.
While in his current role, he executed major projects including installation of the Kancamagus 8 chairlift and re-introduction of lift-serviced downhill mountain biking. He is a past member of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) F27 committee and known throughout the snowsports industry for innovative thought and strategy. “Brian is committed to excellence and has demonstrated that throughout his career.” said Jay Scambio, chief operating officer of Boyne Resorts’ — day area properties and Loon’s outgoing president and general manager.
In 2020, Loon introduced a ten-year capital investment plan, FlightPath:2030, to bring modern innovations to many areas across the resort. Projects taking place this summer include replacement of Seven Brothers Triple with a significantly upgraded detachable quad chairlift and construction of four additional miles of downhill mountain biking trails which are slated to open during the summer.
Originally from Nashua, New Hampshire, Norton settled into the White Mountains region following college. He and his wife, Mary, have a young son and together with their dog live in Campton, N.H., where he is an avid snowboarder and fisherman.
Norton will begin his new role on April 1, 2022.
