Vail Resorts Inc. (Vail Resorts) announced on Saturday at the Annual General Meeting of Andermatt-Sedrun Sport AG (ASS) that Mike Goar will be appointed Managing Director upon completion of the transaction and upon receipt of his Swiss work visa. Mike Goar has been in the industry for over 40 years and during that time has managed several of the most well-known ski resorts in the United States. He has a lot of experience in operations and is a proven partner when working with holiday resorts. Mike Goar was most recently Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Park City Mountain in Utah, the largest contiguous ski area in the United States. Previously, he was COO at Keystone in Colorado, Heavenly in California, Canyons in Utah and Solitude in Utah.
Succeeding Mike, Deirdra Walsh, currently Vice President and General Manager of Northstar, is promoted to Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Park City Mountain Resort, effective May 30, reporting to Bill Rock, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Rocky Mountain Region. Mike will be supporting Dierdra in her transition as he prepares for his new role. Deirdra’s roots are based in Park City, where she began her ski industry career in 2007 as a member of the conference sales team. She was promoted to Director of Mountain Dining in 2010, and grew to Senior Director of Mountain Dining in 2016. In this role she was responsible for overseeing more than a dozen mountain dining outlets and led several major capital improvement projects at the resort before being named General Manager for Northstar.
Matthias Furrer will lead ASS as a member of the management team of Andermatt Swiss Alps AG until the transaction is completed (expected to be completed by the end of the third quarter of 2022). He will then concentrate on managing the Business Area Destination Operation and Development at Andermatt Swiss Alps AG.
The world's leading ski resort operator, Vail Resorts, headquartered in Colorado, USA, announced on March 28, 2022 that it would invest around CHF 149 million in ASS for a 55 percent stake. Completion of the transaction is subject to shareholder approval at an EGM and certain third parties due to contractual obligations.
