Hossbahn Hinterstoder Being Rebuilt
The official ground-breaking ceremony for the new Höss cable car recently took place in Hinterstoder in the presence of many prominent figures from business and politics. By the end of the year, a new, modern 10-seater cable car will be built here, which, with the new location of the valley station directly at the large parking lot in Hinterstoder, will take guests up the Höss and back down into the valley all year round.
New railway as an important economic factor in the region
"Hinterstoder is one of the most popular mountain tourism destinations in Upper Austria that is visited all year round - and is therefore an important economic factor for the Pyhrn-Priel region. The new railway is an important and necessary investment in the future of the company and also in Upper Austria as a tourist location," says Markus Achleitner, Provincial Councilor for Economic Affairs and Tourism. With the support of the state of Upper Austria, the operators are investing a total of around 22 million euros in the new construction. This is the largest investment in the mountain railways in Upper Austria to date. This creates a modern cable car that meets current requirements and also requires 15% less energy than before to transport each passenger.
New railway as an important impetus for the region
Even if the current overall situation makes it difficult to assess the development of the tourist offer, the owners believe that the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region will continue to develop positively and have spoken out in favor of the new cable car. "With this investment, we are creating a sustainable solution for the next 40 to 50 years that will bring all winter sports enthusiasts and mountain enthusiasts safely and easily up the mountain and back down into the valley," say the majority owners of Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG, Prof. Peter Schröcksnadel and Dr . Markus Schröcksnadel.
Sustainable investment for the next generations
The new Höss cable car is the most important "lifeline" of the ski area as a feeder cable car, it has an hourly capacity of 3,200 guests, which is an enormously important transport capacity, especially in winter. “With this new, state-of-the-art ropeway, HIWU AG is investing for future generations, the concession was granted for 50 years. Such investments not only secure the wide range of winter sports in Upper Austria, but also many jobs in the region," says Helmut Holzinger, CEO of Hinterstoder Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG.
The architectural design of the valley and mountain stations ensured that the facility blended harmoniously into the townscape and landscape. It will thus make a sustainable contribution to the further positive development of the mountain railways and the entire destination.
Great importance is also attached to sustainability during construction. For the necessary clearing of the new route, the same area will be reforested to the same extent as a compensation area. "It is important to us that we not only build a modern, up-to-date railway, but that we also act in a way that is close to nature and in agreement with all authorities and stakeholders," Helmut Holzinger continues.
New track as a quantum leap in terms of quality, comfort and safety
Tourism in the region will experience a noticeable upgrade thanks to the new railway. For the guests, the new 10-person gondola means a quantum leap in terms of quality, comfort and safety. “The way up the mountain will be even easier for the guests. You can get from the car park on the edge of the town center directly to the cable car and the waiting times at peak times are greatly reduced because the transport capacity per hour is increased by around 50%," says Rainer Rohregger, CEO of Hinterstoder-Wurzeralm Bergbahnen AG. With the Schiederweiher pond, the Höss ski area and the unique mountain landscape, Hinterstoder is certainly the hotspot in the Pyhrn-Priel holiday region. The region has recently experienced an enormous increase in guests - also due to numerous innovative tourism projects. The new cable car is an important step
