Groundbreaking Event For TechnoAlpins's New Swiss Site
2022 marks the 25th anniversary of TechnoAlpin Schweiz (Switzerland). The Company is all set to host a ground-breaking event on 27 June in recognition of the new subsidiary head office in Schattdorf (Uri Canton). With this new building the innovative market leader intends to set yet another milestone in terms of sustainability. An office and warehouse building is being built on an area of 3000 square meters with a design that is particularly innovative from an ecological and financial perspective. On this occasion, TechnoAlpin is turning to the traditional Japanese technique of 'Yakisugi' or wood preservation to create a sustainable, architectural masterpiece.
The black "charred cladding" as it is known is also pleasing to the eye. "As a technology leader, we have been setting standards for the most sustainable snowmaking system for years," explains Erich Gummerer, Managing Director of TechnoAlpin. "So we naturally wanted to be pioneers in terms of sustainability when it comes to our buildings." Energy-saving strategies such as an urban heating network, photovoltaics, e-car charging stations and timber construction all feature in the extension plans. A new customer service portfolio will also be included via the Service and Training Division.
"The Japanese word, 'yakisugi', is derived from 'yaki' which means burning and 'sugi' for coniferous trees," explains Bruno Gamma, Managing Director of planning and construction company, Gamma AG, who are working with TechnoAlpin on this latest venture. "Slightly charring the surface of the wood makes it water-repellent and, above all, sustainable. It also protects the wood against insect and fungal infestation. This ancient Japanese method is becoming increasingly popular in the wake of the ecology movement."
TechnoAlpin employees on the Swiss site of Flüelen now eagerly await the move to the brand new facilities in neighboring Schattdorf in the spring of 2023.
