Transalpine Run 2022: Alpine Spectacle Will Have A Mostly New Route

On September 3rd, 2022, the Dynafit Transalpine Run powered by Volkswagen R will start on its eight-day journey across the Alps, from Garmisch-Partenkirchen to the finish line in Vals in South Tyrol on September 10th. In the outdoor region of Imst, Nassereith and Imst are the starting and finishing points right in the middle of the action.

Again this year, 300 teams will face the legendary crossing of the Alps at the Transalpine Run (TAR) from September 3rd to 10th, 2022.

At 285 kilometers and 16,770 meters in altitude, the route is one of the most demanding in the history of the legendary crossing of the Alps. A maximum of 300 teams of 2 runners each will take on the challenge, plus another 150 teams of 2 who will get a taste of transalpine air at "RUN2" on the first two days. Registration for both races has been open since December 1, 2021.

RUN2 to Nassereith and Imst

Trail run "freshmen" can be happy, because they too will meet the established and experienced stage locations of Nassereith and Imst. And how could it be otherwise, the region offers all athletes a tailor-made all-round feel-good package. This offer includes the stay and transfers to the starting points, accommodation and the pasta party in the outdoor region of Imst. And if you are looking for refreshment in the cool water after a sweaty trail run, you will be happy about the free entry to the Imst swimming pool, which the holiday pass promises with numerous other offers. This carefree package can only be booked through Imst Tourismus.

New route from Nassereith to Imst

The stage has it all. A short "roll in" in the valley before it goes from the Simmering Alm (1,770m) via the Haiminger Alm to the highest point of the stage, the eastern summit of the magnificent panoramic mountain Tschirgant (2,270m). The downhill through steep pine trails and light larch forests requires technical ability. Imst is already in sight - but there are still a few kilometers down the valley to be mastered.

If you want to get a taste of Transalpine Run, you can “only” run two stages: 74 kilometers and around 4000 meters of altitude difference await the athletes.

The following sections of the route also pose a challenge. Glacier passages and repeated crossings of the 3,000m limit await the runners.

Difficult alpine terrain requires sure-footedness, concentration and a head for heights.

This year, the Transalpine Run (TAR) is again a big festival for lovers of alpine trails with many new sections and spectacular panoramas.
