Beijing 2022 - Thank You From The FIS President
FIS President Johan Eliasch has issued a post Beijing statement. He says:
The Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games have been a great success.
More than half of the medals including 55 gold medals have been awarded in the FIS disciplines Cross-Country Skiing, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Alpine Skiing, Freestyle Skiing & Freeski and Snowboarding.
With a mixed team snowboard event, a mixed team ski jumping event, big air events for men and women and a mixed team aerials event, we are very happy to have launched five new competitions compared to Pyeongchang four years ago.
But these are just numbers. Behind these numbers is the commitment and dedication of all those who made the prolific and safe implementation of these Olympic Games possible.
The world was rooting for our athletes and their outstanding performances. The Olympic spirit was high at all competition venues.
I would therefore like to express my sincere thanks to all FIS officials and staff, our athletes and their teams as well as to the IOC and the Organising Committee.
All the experience and expertise, the flexibility in unprecedented times and this passion for the sport have made the competitions during the past two weeks feasible.
The Olympic Games have shown the strength and excitement of our FIS disciplines and a promise for a bright future with more development and growth, exciting and memorable events and the utmost committed people touching hearts all over the world.
Best wishes,
Johan Eliasch
FIS President
