The nominees of the Swiss-Ski Team:
Beat Feuz, Alpine skiing. Greatest successes 2022: Olympic gold downhill, 2nd downhill World Cup, 7 World Cup podiums (including 1 win)
With the Olympic victory in the downhill, Beat Feuz closed one last gap in his impressive palmarès. In the supreme discipline, the Emmentaler had already been able to wear World Cup gold in 2017. In addition, there are several victories in the biggest World Cup classics in Wengen and Kitzbühel and four triumphs in the discipline rankings. Appearing as the top favourite, Feuz withstood the pressure on the Olympic course in Yanqing and, four days before his 35th birthday, crowned his extraordinary career, which was marked by countless health setbacks. Feuz had gained the necessary self-confidence two weeks earlier with his third triumph in the Hahnenkamm downhill. At the end of the season he was only twelve points short of the fifth small crystal ball in his favorite discipline.
Marco Odermatt, Alpine skiing Greatest successes in 2022: Olympic gold in giant slalom, 1st overall World Cup, 1st giant slalom World Cup and 2nd Super-G World Cup, 16 World Cup podiums (including 7 victories)
Twelve years after Carlo Janka, thanks to Marco Odermatt, Switzerland again provided the overall World Cup winner this year. The 25-year-old native of Nidwalden earned the most important trophy in the Alpine Ski World Cup with consistently good performances – 16 podium finishes in three disciplines are proof of this. He scored five of his seven World Cup victories last winter in the giant slalom, the most important in front of a home crowd in Adelboden, after 14 years before that no local had been able to win a giant on the Chuenisbärgli. However, his gold medal won in the Olympic giant slalom had even more appeal - here too the first by a Swiss since Janka 2010. Odermatt did not let himself be thrown off the gold track even by a serious mistake in the first run.
Michelle Gisin, Alpine skiing Greatest successes in 2022: Olympic gold combination, third place in the Olympics Super-G, 5 World Cup podiums
Michelle Gisin's last ski season was like an emotional rollercoaster ride. After suffering from glandular fever in the summer of 2021, it took the Engelberg woman a certain amount of time before success returned. The 3rd place in the giant slalom in Courchevel just before Christmas felt like a liberating blow. Although she was still in poor health, the all-rounder also made it onto the podium twice in the slalom and super-G in the further course of the World Cup winter. Gisin also made progress at the Olympic Winter Games in China. After finishing 10th and 6th in the giant slalom and slalom, the Swiss won bronze in the Super-G. But that's not all. At the end Gisin got the gold medal in the combination like four years before in South Korea.
Mathilde Gremaud, FreeskiGreatest successes 2022: Olympic Gold Slopestyle, Olympic Bronze Big Air, 2nd X-Games Slopestyle
Mathilde Gremaud is extraordinarily gifted when it comes to coordination. When the ski freestyler whirls through the air, the audience is often amazed. Since this year, the woman from Freiburg has been in possession of a complete set of Olympic medals. The three-time X Games winner at the Beijing Winter Games crowned her career with an Olympic victory in slopestyle. Four years earlier she had finished second in the obstacle course behind her teammate Sarah Höfflin. However, Gremaud's gold coup in China hung by a thread. After gifting herself a bronze in Big Air on her 22nd birthday the week before, Gremaud was so emotionally shaken that she lost all joy.
Lara Gut-Behrami, Alpine skiing Greatest successes 2022: Olympic gold Super-G, Olympic bronze giant slalom, 5 World Cup podiums (including 2 wins)
Lara Gut-Behrami never had to struggle with her health as much as she did last season. Nevertheless, it was one of the most successful in the long career of the 31-year-old from Ticino. The Swiss Sportswoman of the Year 2016 was already world champion and overall World Cup winner, now she can also call herself Olympic champion. At the highlight of the season in China, there was no getting past Gut-Behrami in the Super-G. Four days earlier she had proved that she felt very comfortable on the slopes of Mount Xiaohaituo by winning bronze in the giant slalom. In the World Cup, she was only a part-time racer due to recurring health problems and a corona infection before Christmas. Nevertheless, it was enough in the Super-G in St. Moritz, where she once celebrated her first podium finish and also her first victory in the World Cup,
Corinne Suter, Alpine skiing Greatest successes in 2022: Olympic gold downhill, 2nd downhill World Cup, 3 World Cup podium places (including 1 victory)
Corinne Suter has become a reliable supplier of medals at major downhill events. After the 2019 World Championship silver in Åre and the 2021 World Championship title in Cortina, the Schwyz speed specialist came up trumps last winter with the Olympic victory in China. The 28-year-old has proven once again that she is able to perform at her best even under increased pressure. The Olympic season got off to an unfortunate start for Suter due to a six-week break after a serious fall during training. But Suter did not quarrel and accepted the injury. On day X, she was undeterred by the difficult conditions and the long wait due to the strong wind. With her gold coup in China, Suter completed her palmarès as a downhill skier. Within two years she has succeeded, Olympic champion,
