Positive Report For Cable Car Upgrade In Tiers-Frommeralm
A new 3.8-km-long reversible aerial tram with a capacity of 60 passengers will connect the Tiers / Tires Valley with the Rose Garden. It will then be possible to travel from St. Zyprian / San Cipriano to the Fromm Alm in the Carezza Dolomites Ski Area and the Rose Garden hiking area in just seven minutes. The tram traverses a total of 644 meters in altitude. From the Fromm Alm, you can then take the new König Laurin reversible aerial tram to the underground mountain station at the Cologne Hut and begin exploring the magnificent empire of King Laurin.
On November 23rd, the service conference of the State Environment Agency dealt with the renovation of the Tiers-Frommeralm cable car. According to the expert opinion of the service conference, a renovation of both the valley and the mountain station is possible if the applicants reduce the construction volume to the volume intended in the originally approved project.
Specifically, the following requirements are necessary:
- After renovation, the building rights may no longer be exceeded.
- The necessary volumes must be sealed permanently and stably.
- There must be no damage to the landscape.
- The permanent closure of the volumes must be proven.
As is well known, the applicants had built more space than permitted in the approved project. It then had to be clarified whether a refurbishment is only possible if the volume that was newly built in deviation from the approved project is demolished, or whether the volume built according to the project may also be used for the refurbishment. This point has now been clarified by mutual agreement between the State Department for Nature, Landscape and Spatial Development and the public prosecutor's office. Accordingly, old building volume can also be permanently closed for the renovation. In the meantime, the applicants have bricked up the corresponding old building volume.
Accordingly, the departmental conference of the State Environment Agency was able to issue a positive report. The report will now be sent to the municipalities of Tiers and Welschnofen, which are responsible for the mountain and valley stations. These may now subsequently issue a building permit and subsequently the usage permit.
