Picture Welcomes Freeride Athletes Chris Rubens & Timmy Taussig To The Team
Picture, makers of recycled, organic, and bio-sourced products for board sports and the outdoors, is thrilled to announce the addition of skier, Chris Rubens, and rider, Timmy Taussig to their team of athletes, warmly referred to as the Picture Family. Both highly respected athletes involved in film, product design, and community, the Canadian-based snowsport industry veterans are as committed to using their platforms to create social good as they are for shredding pow in their BC backyards.
Known for sending pillow lines and his personal brand of contagious stoke, Rubens has remained a long-time staple in ski film projects with the likes of Salomon Freeski TV, Sherpa Cinemas, and Blank Collective Films. In more recent years however, the environmentally conscious skier has placed a greater focus on minimizing his carbon footprint, educating others on the realities of climate change, and encouraging realistic daily changes people can make to address the issue – one of which is a conscious approach to the products used in our everyday lives.
“I am very excited to join the Picture team,” said Rubens. “It has been so great to see this company flourish into the company it is today. To me, it embodies what the future of outdoor sports companies will become – it strives for sustainability and affordability without compromising the high quality that is needed to perform our best at our sports. I’m honored to join a team that values the environment ahead of profits and I can’t wait to see where we go in the future.”
“In his 20 years as a pro skier, Chris Rubens has set the bar not only on the big screen as a pillow and powder skiing master,” explained Jesse Ambrogi-Yanson, Picture North American Marketing Manager, “but also as a leader in living an environmentally-conscious lifestyle. He brings a depth of product knowledge, safety (and farming!) skills, passion for climate change, and more to the table, while humbly leading the way for the rest of us to live more sustainably. We are honored to welcome Chris to the Picture Family.”
New York born and Northwest bred, Timmy Taussig is so much more than an accomplished pro snowboarder. Through his non-profit Camp Stoked, he provides kids with the opportunity to experience emphatic joy, a love for nature, and personal growth through board sports. The kind natured Pemberton-based rider has podiumed freeride and banked slalom comps, and been featured in core films and snowboard publications, but when he’s not smashing pow you’ll find him passionately surfing, skateboarding, and hiking in his backyard.
“Joining an elite group of athletes that all share the same values as me is what I have been looking for as a snowboarder and surfer in life,” explained Toussig.
“As I continue to grow as an individual and a rider, I want to be able to share the places I have enjoyed so much with the community and learn how to protect those same places that allow us to follow our passions. Picture is one of the leaders in the outdoor clothing brand in the fight for change and I could not be more honored in joining the family.
“Timmy Taussig has an infectious zeal for snowboarding, surfing, skating (the list goes on) and living life to its fullest potential,” said Ambrogi-Yanson. “His experiences as a filmmaker, non-profit founder, Wilderness First Aid instructor, and top-notch rider, bring passion, creativity, and skill to our North American team. I believe TImmy embodies Picture’s brand ethos: ‘Ride Protect & Share’ fully – we are thrilled to have him join the Family.”
