Bergbahnen Kitzbuhel: Resterkogel Summer Adventure With Educational Water Trail Opened At The Reservoir
With more than 3,000 visitors, the Resterkogel summer experience with water educational trail at the reservoir was opened on July 24th as part of the Resterkogel mountain festival. The new obstacle course is right next to the mountain station of the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen; it is the sporting highlight of the project. Ecology is also part of the thematic foundation. The newly created nature trail around the reservoir gives insights into the importance of water as a habitat, elixir of life and all-rounder. The municipality of Mittersill, the Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden tourism association, the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen, the Pinzgablick mountain restaurant and KitzSki designed and implemented the project together.
Mittersill. From now on, the hiking paradise of the Resterkogel is also a popular adventure destination for the whole family in summer. dr Wolfgang Viertler, Mayor of Mittersill, Michael Sinnhuber, Managing Director of the Mittersill-Hollersbach-Stuhlfelden Tourism Association and Franz Wieser, operator of the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen, know how important it is for children to be given space in nature so that they can be fully children. “It is very important to us that our youngest guests have playful access to the mountain world. Being active and discovering the world are among the natural needs of children. The theme of water is - in the truest sense of the word - the connecting element on the Resterkogel," agree Viertler, Sinnhuber and Wieser. Especially on hot summer days, the summer experience is highly recommended for cooling off. Gastronomy plays an important role in the overall concept, which is why the Pinzgablick mountain restaurant also supports the Resterkogel summer experience. Ecology receives special attention.
The water educational trail around the reservoir was designed together with the biologist Mag. Irmgard Silberberger. It is surrounded by numerous natural and artificial biotopes and is therefore a valuable habitat for plants and animals. Mag. Anton Bodner and Mag. Christian Wörister, board duo of the Bergbahn Kitzbühel, are particularly fond of the water educational trail. “The aim of this nature trail is to create increased awareness of the diversity and use of water. It is living space, elixir of life and – thanks to its versatility – a true all-rounder. Children have great fun splashing around, while adults enjoy the view of the lake to relax,” say Mag. Anton Bodner and Mag. Christian Wörister.
Summer experience Resterkogel
A panorama playground for children and young people has been created between the mountain station of the Resterkogel Panoramabahn and the Pinzgablick mountain restaurant. A bobby car race track was built especially for toddlers and children; Pedal tractors are also part of the fleet. Children and young people can look forward to a climbing wall and trampolines. The new obstacle course with timekeeping is unique. Cooling off for young and old is available in the nearby Kneipp pool.
Water trail in the Resterkogel reservoir
A reservoir was built on the Resterkogel in 2005. It measures 10.5 meters at its deepest point and holds around 175,000 m³ of water. With this amount, KitzSki produces technical snow in winter, an important component for the high quality of the slopes. The water educational trail at the reservoir tells of the importance of water (as a habitat) on the Resterkogel. In the shallow water zone, children can splash around and let off steam in a playful way.
The perfect selfie
The viewing platform at the Resterkogel reservoir offers nature lovers, connoisseurs and athletes a panoramic resting place and atmospheric place for a nice souvenir photo with the magnificent mountain scenery of the Hohe Tauern in the background. It is best for visitors to use the photo point directly on the lake platform.
