Snowsport Scotland CEO Trafford Wilson Resigns

Snowsport Scotland announced today that Trafford Wilson has resigned from his post as Chief Executive Officer.

Robbie Clyde, Chair of Snowsport Scotland said, ‘While it is with obvious disappointment that we are losing Trafford, he leaves the organisation with our best wishes and support as he moves on to a great opportunity to further develop his career. Both I and the whole Board have enjoyed working with Trafford over the last four years, during which time Snowsport Scotland has developed and grown significantly as a governing body with a clear purpose and leadership across the Scottish snowsports community and industry”.

Trafford Wilson said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 4 years working at Snowsport Scotland and am proud of the many achievements reached during this time. As CEO, I have been fortunate to work with a highly capable and enthusiastic Board and team, who I have no doubt will continue to take snowsports from strength to strength. I wish to personally thank Robbie Clyde for his leadership and guidance, and the Board, staff and wider snowsports community for their support during my tenure”.

The Board of Directors will immediately commence the process to appoint a new CEO, with further information to be made available in the coming days. Clyde continued, ‘With our new 4 year strategy from 2022-2026 being completed in the coming months, this provides an excellent opportunity for a new CEO to contribute to and shape our vision for the next four years, and working with our excellent team at Snowsport Scotland to further drive forward the development of snowsports in Scotland.’

On joining Snowsport Scotland Wilson said "My family and I are enormously excited to now be in Scotland after relocating from my home country of New Zealand last week. Prior to joining the Snowsports Scotland team, I have been working in the New Zealand sport sector for the last 13 years in a variety of roles, most recently as CEO of Wellington Hockey, so this will be an exciting new challenge for me working in a new sector and in a new country.

"Part of my motivation in applying for the CEO role was the direction the sport is heading in. On the back of constitution changes and the formalisation of a new governance structure and strategy, the sport is in a fantastic position to grow its membership base and produce more winners on the world stage.

"I look forward to engaging with stakeholders in the coming months to determine how we can work collectively to achieve the ambitious targets set out in the Snowsports Scotland strategy, and to ensure that energy is applied into the right areas in the coming season."
