The General Assembly Day will also be streamed online and will be highlighted by the election of the FIS President and Council.

  • FIS World Cup Calendars. The FIS Council approved the framework for the 2022-23 FIS World Cup calendars for Cross Country, Ski Jumping, Nordic Combined, Freestyle Skiing, Snowboard and Freeski. These framework calendars will now be referred to the various Technical Committees for discussion and fine tuning at the Spring Meetings. The Technical Committees will then provide the final calendars to the FIS Council for final approval. The Alpine framework calendar will undergo further revisions before being referred to its Technical Committee.
  • Update and Reports of the FIS Working Groups. The FIS Council received written reports from the 12 Working Groups appointed last summer. The Working Groups, which include, Alpine, Nordic, Snowboard/Freestyle/Freeski, Recreation &Tourism, Women in FIS, Education, Associate and New Members, Youth, China, Asia, SRS/Sponsors and Camps/Facilities, are all progressing to the Council’s satisfaction. The recommendations of the Working Groups will be transferred to the Technical Committees for further their comments to the Council before final recommendations are made by the Council.
  • Fluorinated Wax Ban Update. It was reported that after comprehensive testing, FIS is prepared to fully enforce the Fluorinated Wax ban at the start of the 2022-2023 winter season. Working with Bruker, a leading manufacturer of high-performance scientific instruments and maintaining a close collaboration with the International Biathlon Union (IBU) through a joint working group, an effective testing method using the Alpha II device was developed. The device provides reliable testing to ensure fluor-free competitions, which will help guarantee fair competitions and a level playing field. The rules regarding the fluor wax ban will be defined at the upcoming FIS Congress, which will then be implemented at the start of the winter 2022-23 season.
