Brunni Reports Increase In Turnover In The Past Winter Season

Brunni-Bahnen AG closes the 2021/2022 winter season with an increase in turnover of +25%. In particular, the Klostermatte and the gastronomic offers have contributed to this extremely positive result. Those responsible at Brunni-Bahnen AG are correspondingly satisfied.
Despite the ongoing pandemic and the associated measures, Brunni-Bahnen AG was able to start the winter season on December 4, 2021 as planned. The fact that large amounts of snow fell right at the beginning of the season was an advantage, as managing director Roman Barmettler reports: "We were able to create a good basis for the slope preparation, from which we benefited throughout the winter." But the weather certainly also contributed to the good result: "In February and March it was often sunny and we were able to set new daily records," explains Roman Barmettler.
Increase in sales in the ski business
First entries (skier days) increased by around 22% compared to the 2020/2021 winter season. The Klostermatte even achieves an increase of 26%. Only the group business is still at a low level and cannot build on the time before Corona. “The impact of the pandemic is still being felt in this area. But it's slowly picking up again. At the end of March, some school classes made up for their winter sports days," says Roman Barmettler.
The special children's subscription, which includes seasonal ski rental, was once again very popular. Together with the local retailer Achermann Sport, turnover was +48% compared to the previous year.
Great demand in the catering trade
Despite the initial obligation to obtain certificates, the catering establishments were also able to end the season on a positive note. The entire gastronomy on the mountain and in the valley is +36% above the five-year average. "The panorama terrace at the Ristis restaurant attracted many sun-seeking guests, so that we also had good basic occupancy during the week," the managing director informed.
At the Berglodge in Ristis, sales are at the previous year's level. Roman Barmettler is satisfied with the result: "In the end, the multi-bed rooms were well booked, despite some cancellations at short notice due to Corona."
Brunni-Bahnen Engelberg AG is currently undergoing revision. All lift facilities and restaurants will reopen on May 7th, 2022.
