Kitzski - Preparing For The Start Of Winter
With optimism and confidence, KitzSki is already diligently preparing for the winter season 2021/22 and as soon as the temperatures allow it, KitzSki will start with the technical snowmaking. The teams are gradually switching to winter operation. The cable cars, the entire ski bus network and much more will be made fit for the upcoming ski season. When it comes to COVID, KitzSki shines with an extensive security concept. Innovative measures were implemented in the areas of panorama gastronomy and modern access solutions. In the KitzSki webshop (shop.kitzski.at) there is an early bird discount on online purchases of day tickets and brand new KitzSki products.
Kitzbühel | Kirchberg | Mittersill. The time has come soon: KitzSki is planning the start of the season on October 30th on the Resterkogel, thus opening the winter season 2021/22. From there, the well-groomed slopes of the world's best ski area (skiresort.de) will be created until December. Preparations are in full swing, marketing activities are in full swing and the security concept to protect against COVID has also been fine-tuned. Mag. Anton Bodner, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel, looks to the coming winter with confidence. “We are very satisfied with the progress of the season ticket sales. We can also come up with many innovations that will delight skiers. Very important for us:
New: P3 Lounge and expansion of the orientation aids in the ski area
Right next to the Pengelstein mountain restaurant, a cozy lounge will replace the old umbrella bar from December. "The new P3 Lounge will be a welcome meeting point for all those who want to enjoy the 360-degree panorama of the surrounding mountains in a stylish ambience," adds Anton Bodner. There is a modern infotainment system on the facade of the P3 Lounge, which provides skiers with important information (e.g. piste panorama, avalanche warning level, etc.) and thus also promotes orientation in the ski area. For this purpose, new LED boards were installed at critical points in the ski area, showing the panorama of the slopes. The well-known KitzSki photo points, such as the KitzSki logo on the Steinbergkogel or Hartkaser (mountain station), also help skiers
Arrive sustainably in the ski area
As far as the offer for travel to the ski area is concerned, this year KitzSki is again taking an important step towards sustainability. There is a cooperation with the Bavarian bus tour operator Geldhauser ('KitzSkiXpress') and the Austrian Federal Railways ('Im Nightjet to the snow' and 'With Railjet & Co to the snow') to get to Kitzbühel in a comfortable and environmentally friendly way. In the ski area itself, the ski buses or the train (as part of the 'foray') can be used if required; Use is free of charge during the day with a valid lift ticket.
Cheap online tickets - only while stocks last
Those who prefer to invest in day tickets instead of a season ticket can also look forward to it. “For the first time, there was no price increase for the daily rate. In the coming winter season, everyone who purchases their day ticket or multi-day ticket in advance via the webshop will automatically receive an early bird discount. Buying the lift tickets online pays off ”, says Mag. Christian Wörister, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel.
There is now a new tool for all customers to help them find their way around the selection of different offers. The ticket calculator, a new online tool at kitzski.at, will support ski guests in choosing the right ticket in the future.
Smartphone instead of ski pass - a next-generation ski pass
The idea behind the pioneering “Smartphone Ticket” project together with SKIDATA Austria: Install the app and download the desired lift ticket. With the activated app (Mobile Flow), the smartphone becomes a 100 percent digital alternative to the conventional KeyCard. In the winter season 2021/22, the smartphone ticket is available and can be used on the Gaisberg, Kitzbüheler Horn and Resterhöhe. The smartphone ticket can be bought at shop.kitzski.at
NEW: Skimovie route - along slope No. 16 Streiteck
The skiers experience a professional racer feeling along the new Skimovie route in the lower area of piste no. 16 (Streiteck). The Skimovie route is 280 m long and has a giant slalom. Use of the Skimovie route is free of charge. All photos and videos that were taken on the Skimovie route can be called up with the number of the keycard via skiline.cc.
KitzSki goes international
Everyone who has an Ikon Pass also receives a special bonus. From winter 2021/22, KitzSki will start its cooperation with Ikon Pass, a ski card association with access to 47 international ski destinations. “We are all the more pleased that our offer is the first and currently the only ski area in Austria to be included in the global Ikon Pass network. Internationalization will continue to advance in winter sports despite Corona and so it is important for us that KitzSki is a partner of the Ikon Pass in Europe right from the start, true to the motto 'The first on the mountain. Every day. '", Mag. Christian Wörister is convinced.
Personal winter fairy tale
The most legendary sports town in the Alps with almost 130 years of successful skiing history - Kitzbühel with the holiday villages of Reith, Aurach and Jochberg is known worldwide as a winter holiday destination with tradition and extraordinary charm. Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser, Managing Director of Kitzbühel Tourism, looks to the upcoming winter with full confidence. “After an extremely successful summer season, we are looking forward to the coming winter months. We are doing everything we can to ensure that our guests enjoy a carefree holiday this winter. The currently valid measures are conscientiously adhered to and further steps are taken, ”said Dr. Viktoria Veider-Walser. One thing is clear: everyone involved must prepare for winter today. A second failure of the winter season is not acceptable.
Planned start of winter on the Resterkogel
At KitzSki, the winter season is expected to start on October 30th on the Resterkogel. Above all, the young racers and the ski elite of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV) and German Ski Association (DSV) use the ideal conditions in the Resterkogel training center to train. Wolfgang Maier, sports director of the DSV, wishes to be able to bring not only competitive athletes but everyone back into the snow. “After a previous winter season in which we were not allowed to practice winter sports, we are confident about the winter season 2021/22. The Kitzbühel region and KitzSki will be very important partners in this project. The popularity of this ski area is beyond question for German winter sports enthusiasts. We are therefore preparing for the coming season with optimism, ”said Wolfgang Maier.
