Gordini Celebrates 65 Years Of Advancing Handwear
Gordini announced it is celebrating 65 years of glove innovation. Based in Vermont, the family-run and independently-owned, company “has focused on the same mission since its founding in 1956—to keep hands warm and dry for full days of adventure.”
From introducing the first down and leather ski mitts to launching a glove made entirely from bluesign-approved materials for Fall 2o21, Gordini has “always worked to combine proven materials with the latest technologies to deliver the best possible product to its customers.”
In 1980, Gordini became one of the first brands to offer Gore-Tex gloves and continues that partnership today. Gordini invented injection-molded gloves for impact protection, dexterity and grip in 2010 under the MadGrip label. In 2015, it launched 3D-knit gloves with its patented ErgoKnit technology that “reduces seams for more warmth and durability with less bulk.” Today, Gordini offers its Clutch synthetic leather collection as a “high-performance, animal-free and more environmentally responsible alternative to leather.”
“It is incredibly humbling to look back on the rich history of the Gordini brand that started 65 years ago, and I now have the honor of running alongside my father today,” said David Gellis, Gordini president. “Gordini has always had a truly passionate, hard-working and call-it-as-it-is culture that is family-oriented, tightly knit and fully immersed in this industry we all love.”
In addition to its glove collection, Gordini also manufactures performance goggles and face protection accessories for adults, juniors and kids. Its goggle line features a magnetic lens interchange system with peripheral vision while adjusting to changing light and snow conditions.
For its Fall 2021 collection, Gordini collaborated with two of its Athlete Team members Rafael Pease and Julian Carr on sustainable handwear. The Front Line system collection of liners and shells for gloves and mitts is designed for backcountry use featuring PrimaLoft Gold insulation and Schoeller Keprotec palms. Its Cirque series includes a goatskin shell and accents that are responsibly sourced from a Leather Working Group certified partner.
