Tirol’s Rail - Ski Offer “In The Nightjet To The Snow” Starts This Season
Sustainable mobility is becoming more and more important in winter tourism. That is why the Association of Austrian Cable Cars, the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Tirol Werbung have also expanded their offer for the coming winter season 2021/22! The aim is to expand the range of rail services in the direction of ski areas, including relaxed travel to and from the ÖBB night trains.
In cooperation with seven Tyrolean destinations, the ski pass could already be booked last winter together with the outward and return journey with the modern night train fleet of ÖBB and the transfer from the train station to the accommodation and back. Two more destinations will be added in the coming winter: Schlick 2000 and Tiroler Zugspitz Arena.
The packages including train journey, the 3‐, 4‐, 5‐ or 6 ‐ day ski pass and the transfer are now available for the Tyrolean ski areas of St. Anton am Arlberg, Stubai Glacier, Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental and St. Johann in Tirol, KitzSki - Kitzbühel ski area, Ski Juwel Alpbachtal Wildschönau and bookable for the Zillertal.
Bookings can now be made directly with ÖBB Rail Tours at kombitickets@railtours.oebb.at or at kombitickets.railtours.at .
“Austria's cable cars have always relied on forward-looking and innovative offers. For us, this includes the quality of the facilities as well as responsibility towards the alpine habitat and the increasingly important climate-friendly accessibility. By the latter, I understand the claim to remove as many barriers as possible for a sustainable holiday experience in the local mountains and to further optimize mobility solutions. And that is exactly what has been achieved with the product 'In the Nightjet to the Snow'. Together with our partners, it is very important to us to make winter holidays in Austria even more authentic, more grounded and therefore of course more sustainable, ”explains Franz Hörl, chairman of the professional association of cable cars in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce.
Since 2012, Tirol Werbung has been promoting
travel by train and strengthening public transport as part of the “Tirol auf Schiene” initiative . “In our further developed tourism strategy 'Der Tiroler Weg' we have clearly defined that this commitment will be expanded further. After all, we want to increase the share of public travel among our guests to 20 percent by 2035, ”emphasizes Tirol Werbung managing director Florian Phleps. “Successful projects like 'In the Nightjet to the Snow' are an important building block for achieving this goal. This attractive combination offer brings guests comfortably to their destination and takes the entire mobility chain into account. "
Winter sports combination tickets are also becoming increasingly popular
For some time now, ÖBB has been offering the joint booking of trips in day trains and ski passes as part of the “winter sports combination tickets”. This popular offer is also being adopted by more and more winter sports destinations and thus helps to further reduce individual traffic in the tourist regions. From the coming season, the winter sports combination tickets will also be offered for the Zillertal and East Tyrol ski regions. The ski areas Stuhleck, Schladming, St. Anton am Arlberg, Lech Zürs, Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, St. Johann in Tirol, Kitzbühel, Gastein, Snow Space Salzburg and Zell am See-Kaprun are once again included. Tickets can be purchased from the middle of November via the ÖBB sales channels (ÖBB ticket shop, ÖBB app, ÖBB ticket counter, customer service tel. + 43-05-1717-3).
