The North Face Announces New Trans-Antarctica Collection

The North Face has reintroduced its iconic Trans-Antarctica capsule collection, one of the brand’s most sought after collections on the streetwear market and noteworthy accomplishments in the quest to provide revolutionary gear to push the boundaries of exploration.

In 1990, The North Face outfitted an international team of explorers on the first dogsled crossing of Antarctica—an extraordinary physical feat across nearly 4,000 unforgiving miles—with the mission of studying climate change and drawing global attention to the preservation of the continent.

From Antarctica to the Arctic Circle and everywhere in between, protecting our wild places has been an integral part of The North Face’s DNA since its inception, and the advocacy that inspired this expedition continues to be essential to the brand’s identity today.

The success of the 1990 expedition, which resulted in the decision by global leaders to put Antarctica aside for preservation, has long been an important moment in The North Face’s history and been celebrated by previous notable collaborations with Supreme and Goldwin, putting the expedition gear on the streetwear map.

Now, The North Face is bringing the collection back to honour its past while looking forward to the future of exploration.

To celebrate the reintroduction, the brand releases the trailer for their latest film, The North Face Presents: Peace of History. The film features explorer, educator, and leader of the 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition, Will Steger, and explores themes of weathering harsh conditions, global cooperation and protection of our planet. The full film will launch on November 9th, please view the trailer HERE.

The collection was designed with details from the original 1990 International Trans-Antarctica Expedition and integrates new elements including recycled materials, DryVent fabrics, and 700 fill goose down certified to the Responsible Down Standard (RDS).

The collection is available to buy now at www.thenorthface.com and in select The North Face stores.
