Swiss Mountain Award: Innovation Award Goes To The Jungfrau Railways V Project
The highlight of this year's FORUM SEILBAHNEN SCHWEIZ industry conference in Le Châble was the presentation of the 9th Swiss Mountain Awards. The award for a particularly innovative achievement in the cable car industry went to the Jungfrau Railways for the V-Bahn project.
Every two years, Seilbahnen Schweiz (SBS) honors outstanding, innovative achievements or projects in the Swiss cable car industry with the Swiss Mountain Award. The prize is endowed with CHF 10,000. The jury had nominated three projects for the final selection in 2021; the staged night toboggan run in Lenzerheide, the electricity production facility from Davos / Techno Alpin and the Jungfrau Railways V project. The latter was able to convince the jury best.
Convinced in all areas
With the V project, Jungfrau Railways has set a new standard for mountain railways in the areas of convenience, design, tour guides and logistics. This investment of 470 million CHF scored highly in social, economic and ecological terms. The V-Bahn secures the future of the entire Jungfrau Region as a year-round destination in Swiss tourism in the medium and long term. It forms the foundation for the destination development towards a premium destination. In international competition, Switzerland has a top winter and summer destination with modern public transport connections.
The award ceremony took place in front of around 300 people at the FORUM SEILBAHNEN SCHWEIZ industry conference in Le Châble.
