Sun Valley Resort Announces Winter Operating Plan For 2021-2022 Season
Sun Valley Resort, ranked #1 Overall Resort in SKI Magazine’s Annual Ski Resort Awards and Reader’s Poll for the second year in a row, has announced its 2021-2022 season Winter Operating Plan. Similar to last season, the plan focuses on the safety, health and well-being of employees, guests and the local community, and continues to align with the guidance and scientific expertise from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Idaho Department of Health, and Blaine County Health Department.
“We are excited to commence the 2021-2022 season with a few updates to our operating plan that focus on the health and safety of all of our employees and guests,” said Sun Valley Vice President and General Manager, Pete Sonntag. “The resulting plan sets Sun Valley Resort up for another successful season by following the guidance from the CDC and local health officials, as well as the learnings from last season.”
Per city ordinances in Sun Valley and Ketchum, masks are required in indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status. The Resort will not be requiring masks outdoors, including while in lift lines, on lifts, or in the Gondola but are encouraging guests to physically distance when possible. Employees are encouraged to get vaccinated and will undergo daily health screenings for their safety and protection as well the safety of guests and the community.
The Resort will continue to have bag storage this year at River Run, as well as an Apres Bar outside the Lodge, so that guests can choose to remain in the fresh air for delicious post-skiing treats. Lift Tickets On Sale
Lift tickets and SnowSports lessons are now available for purchase online. This year, Sun Valley Resort is offering 1-day, 2-day, 3-day or 4-day lift tickets for Bald Mountain and 1-day or 2-day lift tickets for Dollar Mountain. The tickets do not have to be used consecutively and can be used 4 out of 6 days, 3 out of 5 days, and 2 out of 3 days.
Similar to last year, the Resort will be monitoring capacity to ensure physical distancing and avoid crowding on the mountain. The Resort anticipates tickets to be available for most days to ski on Baldy and Dollar, and strongly encourages guests to plan ahead and save by purchasing lift tickets ahead of time at sunvalley.com.
SnowSports Lessons On Sale
SnowSports offerings remain the same this year, with the popular Classic Private Lesson and Family Private Lesson. Individual and group lessons offer a custom experience of Sun Valley and can be tailored specifically to individuals’ needs. Instructors provide tips for refining skills along the way, while sharing local knowledge and offering priority lift access to ensure a peak mountain experience. Half day and full day options are available, with a maximum of five participants for the Family Private Lesson. Lift tickets are not included with purchase.
Sun Valley Resort will also offer the Alpine Au Pair program this year, taking place on Dollar Mountain. This unique program is designed for families with children ages 3-5 years old, and provides a safe, fun learning environment that allows children to improve skills and build confidence. Alpine Au Pair is offered as a morning lesson from 9:00AM-11:30AM, and lift tickets are included with purchase. Due to limited space, guests are encouraged to purchase in advance.
