Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Plans For November 26th Opening
If you don't know the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, you will first smile at the long name. Just as long as the name is, however, the variety around the coolest ski area in the Alps. The cross-state region not only connects 270 kilometers of slopes, 70 modern lifts and 60 cozy, stylish huts, but also one feeling: the spirit of the Home of Lässig - or in other words: the individual feeling of happiness! And that is what fun-loving families, sporty alpine skiers and individualistic freeriders will find here alike.
But how do you define this feeling of happiness? For some it is the care and warmth that can be felt from the hotel to the ski school - for others it is the perfection of the groomed slopes and the ultra-modern mountain railways. Or is it the untracked powder slopes and the "faceshots" that put a smile on your face? The "Home of Lässig" is all about joie de vivre, cosiness and diversity, a varied and incomparable time that will be remembered forever.

With these distances, "The Challenge" ranks at the top of the renowned ski circuits in the Alps and even outshines the "Sellaronda", the "White Ring" or the "Königstour". You should allow around seven hours for this demanding ski circuit in the Skicircus, which leads around one of the most varied and extensive ski areas in Austria. In this challenge, athletic performance is definitely in the foreground. A long stop in one of the many rustic huts along the way, dreamy summit moments or cozy sunbathing is better postponed to the next day of skiing, because 32 lifts between Saalbach Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn have to be caught for this ski marathon.
10. Numerous activities away from the slopes
Leisure hikers and romantics will find comfortable (snowshoe) hiking trails in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn in the middle of the winter wonderland. Cozy horse-drawn sleigh rides or a walk over the Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps and the tree-top path turn the winter experience away from the slopes into a dreamy excursion like something out of a fairy tale.
Dare high-flyers with the Flying Fox XXL - one of the fastest and longest steel cable slides in the world - top speeds of up to 130 km / h and view the Alps from above while paragliding.
Families and toboggan fans can look forward to five toboggan runs with different attributes. After a successful day of skiing, a trip on Timok's Alpine Coaster directly at the Streuböden middle station in Fieberbrunn is also tempting (included in the valid ski pass).
New in winter 2021/22
During the summer months, the Skicircus again invested in guaranteed snow and improved comfort for all winter sports enthusiasts. The start of construction of the Limberg 8-seater chairlift on the Schattberg and the technical lift connection to Viehhofen have been postponed indefinitely due to the Corona crisis and the associated delays.
The new ALPIN CARD NAVIGATOR
The navigation APP for three premium ski regions
From winter 2021/22, the three premium ski regions Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun - or their ticket network ALPIN CARD - will also take you mobile and digital across all mountains and slopes to your desired destination. Even if you have lost your orientation on the way, are looking for a specific hut or just want to swing over blue slopes: the app is the map. Always with you, always helpful, with announcement and all functions like a street navigation system.
Always know where to go
After around a year of intensive development, the free ALPIN CARD NAVIGATOR app will be available for IOS and Android at the start of the 2021/22 winter season. This means that the entire piste network of the three premium ski regions Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun is available at all times with all the important information: positioning, route guidance, route selection, highlights. With the three categories of lifts, huts and attractions, the innovative APP offers quick access to the desired topic, leads to more detailed descriptions and also enables intermediate destinations to be entered.
Reach your destination safely and individually
For example, if you are on a slope in the Skicircus and want to go over the Schmittenhöhe to the Kitzsteinhorn, the app shows the route including downhill runs, lift rides and any bus connections. The app also suggests different levels of difficulty for the desired route - each with a time. So the descent can be chosen individually according to your own ability. Then you press start and off you go. Directional information comes during the journey via voice announcement over the headphones or you stop and check the situation on your smartphone in peace. The app also calculates closed lift connections in the navigation and notifies them by means of a push message.
In connection with the new slope guidance system in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn since the last winter season, this enables easy, fast and safe progress in the ski area - especially for children and young people.
Download before downhill!
With the ALPIN CARD NAVIGATOR, the three premium ski regions Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Schmittenhöhe in Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun have developed one of the most modern piste apps and offer their guests even more safety and comfort. The free APP is designed to be extremely user-friendly and will certainly live up to its slogan this winter: The APP is the map!
Carrying skis was yesterday! Ski connection from the Bernkogel (slope 146) to the A1 + A2 Schattberg X-press
Good news for all those who don't like to take skis and snowboards for a walk, but prefer to swing casually and directly in front of the valley station. The ski connection from the Bernkogel (slope 146) to the A1 + A2 Schattberg X-press will mean a major improvement in comfort for all winter sports enthusiasts from next winter. Operations director of the Saalbacher Bergbahnen, DI Walter Steiner, explains:“The idea for this connection had matured in our heads for a long time. When it comes to comfort, shouldering your skis for a walk from the Bernkogel to the Schattberg is no longer up-to-date. The 6 to 10 meter wide ski path leads through a 25 meter long underpass and over a total length of 300 meters from piste 146, just above the G1 Bernkogelbahn valley station, directly to the parking lot of the A1 + A2 Schattberg X-press. Construction began on this project as early as September 2019, with extensive slope stabilization work and the construction of the underpass. In the course of the construction, of course, the possibility of technical snow-making with lances was also provided for this ski path. "
Rosswald storage pond (to be completed in 2021): 230,000 m³ capacity for safe fun in the snow
In Hinterglemm, the starting shot was given in summer 2020 for a two-year construction project to further improve snow reliability. The new Rosswald reservoir with a net volume of around 230,000 m³ is located directly on the high-altitude cross-country ski trail and on the multifunctional trail between Rosswaldhütte and Wieseralm. It multiplies the snow production of the Filzen storage pond on the Reiterkogel, which was previously used for this area. Ing. Sepp Schwabl, technical manager of the Hinterglemmer Bergbahnen, reports: “The reservoir, which is currently under construction, will supply the ski area between Rosswald and Reiterkogel from winter 2021. The construction of the pumping station and the necessary earthworks were already carried out this summer. After extensive renaturation work, this reservoir will also present itself as a popular excursion destination in the summer, because it blends in wonderfully with the picturesque surroundings of the Rosswald. Due to the good accessibility, the reservoir is ideal for possible summer use. In the summer of 2020 and 2021, the Berg Kodok adventure trail will be rerouted due to construction work - but the lake will be integrated into the course of the themed trail as early as summer 2022. Despite the construction site, the high-altitude trail between Reiteralm and Rosswaldhütte will be usable this winter with a small detour. "
Together safely through the winter
Big changes have shaped the last few months - COVID-19 is affecting our lives worldwide. The focus is on safety and the personal health of every single person, even more than before, as the greatest asset - also in the thoughts and actions of the cable car companies in the ALPIN CARD ticket network Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn, Schmittenhöhe Zell am See and Kitzsteinhorn Kaprun.
In compliance with the currently valid regulations and additional safety measures, the extensive range of the ticket network with 121 cable cars and lifts and 408 kilometers of slopes is convincing. Due to the vastness of the region, vacationing with a safe distance is not a problem. In addition, 23 cable cars from the valley provide additional unbundling when entering the ski area.
Measures:
• Signs and information points in the ski area: These indicate the code of conduct at the cable cars and in the entire ski area.
• Masks and tube scarves (MNS): wearing an MNS is compulsory in the areas marked accordingly.
• Organized queuing areas: The queuing areas are organized independently of the current legal requirements in such a way that groups of people standing close together are avoided as far as possible.
• Hand hygiene: Hand disinfection options are installed in the cable car systems in the indoor area.
• Number of people: A reduction in the maximum number of people permitted in the cable car cabins or chairlifts is not legally binding, but the permitted capacities are not used if the number of passengers is correspondingly low. An MNS must always be worn in cable cars.
• Disinfection measures: All cable car cabins are disinfected regularly. Disinfection measures are also carried out regularly in elevator cabins, escalators, sanitary facilities, ski depots and first aid rooms.
• Employees are tested for COVID-19 before starting their work for the first time. For those who are in customer contact, event-related follow-up tests are carried out, with an ongoing test option.
• Employees with contact with guests are instructed to wear an MNS. Before starting work, all employees are measured daily for their body temperature.
The situation is continuously evaluated and the measures are adapted accordingly. Current information at https://www.saalbach.com/de/winter/skigebiet/sicherheit-durch-den-winter
