Schilthorn - Lift Maintenance Underway, Numbers On A Par With 2020
The almost four-week autumn overhaul of the Schilthornbahn starts on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. The Mürren-Allmendhubel funicular is also already in the autumn break. The Panorama Restaurant Allmendhubel achieved the second best summer result since records. The numbers for the cable car are at the previous year's level. In general, an increasing international travel activity is noted.
The cable car between Mürren and Schilthorn will run until Tuesday, October 26, 2021. The Mürren-Allmendhubel funicular has been closed since Monday, October 18, as well as the autumn revision and the Panorama Restaurant Allmendhubel. This with a pleasing look back: The restaurant achieved the second best summer result ever. The frequencies on the funicular were also increased by around six percent during the summer months.
Tough start to the season, strong autumn months
The numbers for the cable car are at the previous year's level. After a slow start in spring with Corona due to the late opening of the restaurants from May 31, 2021 and a rainy July, the numbers could be increased again in the autumn months at the latest. "We already had a very good August and the big upswing finally came with the splendid September", confirms Christoph Egger, director of the Schilthorn cable car. "The beautiful weather, the warm temperatures and the significant increase in travel activities from the USA and the Gulf States have contributed to the fact that we have now been able to match the previous year's figures," continued Egger. In general, the signals from the international markets are positive. Various incentives from the USA and first groups from Korea and Indonesia can be recorded. Marketing activities were resumed in practically all markets. Participation in the Swiss Travel Market STM in Interlaken has also shown that travel will regain momentum worldwide.
Earlier start of the revision in autumn 2021
This year's autumn revision starts around three weeks earlier than usual. The reason for this is the replacement of the pull rope and the tension ropes on section three between Mürren and Birg. The revision takes just under four weeks. On November 20, 2021, the cable car and the restaurants on the mountain will start the winter season with continuous operation. The company is also starting winter sports earlier than usual. All signs are good that the Riggli chairlift can go into operation on weekends from November 6th.
