Kelly Vanderbeek And Marc Lanouette Appointed To Alpine Canada Board Of Directors
Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Kelly VanderBeek and Marc Lanouette to our Board of Directors. Kelly and Marc join the board for a three-year term during an exciting Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games season.
“Both Kelly and Marc are wonderful additions to our board,” said Therese Brisson, President & Chief Executive Officer of ACA. “They bring strong sport, broadcast, brand building, digital media experience and the commitment needed to help us increase podium performances and inspire growth in participation and fans. I am very excited about the future we are building for ski racing in Canada”
Kelly is a former Canadian Alpine National Team athlete with deep experience in the alpine ski world from an athletic, broadcast and media perspective. During her 13 years as a professional athlete, Kelly reached the World Cup podium three times and was the first Canadian woman to reach a World Cup podium on home soil in Lake Louise. She finished just off the podium in 4th place in the Super G at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Torino. After retiring from sport, she transitioned to a career in media and broadcasting where she has hosted Olympic Games, Calgary Stampede and Red Bull Crushed Ice.
“It’s exciting to return to ACA as a board member,” says Kelly. “The world of alpine has been such an important part of my life and career, and I look forward to giving my time and expertise back through my appointment to the board.”
Marc is currently the CEO of Grey Group Canada and the co-founder and CEO of TANK Worldwide. His uncanny vision and deep 25-year experience in communications and marketing will be a great asset to the board. His understanding of ski racing is at the grass roots, where he had children involved in ski racing programs in the Quebec Laurentians.
“It’s an honour to be appointed to the ACA Board of Directors,” says Marc. “Contributing my time and experience to the world of ski racing is an exciting opportunity to help build the next generation of incredible national athletes.”
Both Marc and Kelly have skills that are crucial to help ACA advance its strategic plan, particularly with a focus on building brand, media, and broadcast. They also have deep passion for ski racing and the alpine community, and their experience will be an invaluable addition to our board.
“Having such distinguished people as Kelly and Marc join our board is a tremendous asset to Alpine Canada” said Tim Dattels, Chair of the Board of Directors. “They bring the skills and experience we were seeking to complement our board and will greatly benefit Alpine Canada’s work to become a world-class ski racing nation.”
With Alpine Canada’s Annual General Meeting at the end of October, Paul Desmarais III completed his term on the board and did not seek another term. We thank Paul for his significant contributions to ACA over the last two years and as a passionate champion for ski racing in Canada we know we can count on his much-appreciated continued support of Alpine Canada’s athletes, teams, and coaches.
