Austrian Winter Covid Rules Published

In order to enable a safe and successful winter season, the Ministry of Tourism and Health adapted the regulations for the winter season on October 20th. The associated ordinance was published by the Ministry of Health on Monday evening, October 25th.
The regulation clarifies two issues that are essential for winter tourism. It is stipulated that not only an FFP2 mask, but also a 3-G certificate is required to use cable cars. This does not apply to people who use the cable car to cover everyday needs. This means that anyone who lives on the mountain and goes to the valley to go shopping or to see a doctor does not necessarily have to be tested, recovered or vaccinated.
Après ski is possible again. However, the stricter rules apply there, analogous to night gastronomy. This means that those who have only been tested must be able to show a higher-quality PCR test in order to be admitted. From an occupancy of 300 intensive care beds, which could be reached in a short time, only vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed.
The regulations in the catering and hotel industry as well as at events remain relaxed. Even living room tests within the framework of 3-G are still accepted here. Antigen tests may only be 24 hours old, PCR tests 72 hours. As an exception, self-tests can also be carried out on site, for example in front of a bar. However, the rules could soon become stricter. If 300 intensive care beds are occupied, the living room tests will disappear.
Christmas markets can also take place this year. According to the Ministry of Health, the rules have been adapted so that fencing is no longer necessary
