Golmerbahn To Install New Cabins

After around 25 years of operation, the Golmerbahn is being equipped with new operating equipment (cabins) this year. These in turn offer 8 people enough space, like the previous ones. A significant improvement in comfort compared to the old cabins is achieved by the fact that the entrances are level and without a step (level walk in) and that the room height can be increased. Thanks to the fold-out benches, the transport of goods (food, luggage, etc.) can also be carried out much more easily. In addition, the entrances and exits to the railway in all stations will be made barrier-free. Passenger elevators will be installed in Latschau and Matschwitz for this purpose. 10 of the total of 111 new gondolas will be designed with Golmi in a special design. Another highlight is that at the push of a button Golmi or Golmine tells the children an exciting story while driving. Before the railway can go into operation in December 2021, extensive modifications will be necessary in the stations. 

The  gondola was built by Doppelmayr in 1995 with a capacity of around 1800 per hour at a speed of 5m/s. The monocable gondola lift ferries passengers from Vandans up to Golm mountain in Montafon. It visits four stations, completing the journey in three stages.

The  work must be planned precisely, as the lift still has to be in operation in the summer season.
