Arc’teryx Launches ReBird Circularity Program
Arc’teryx is launching ReBird, a program that connects customers to its ongoing initiative in circularity, including upcycling, resale, care, and repair.
ReBird marks the company’s commitment to shift from a take-make-waste ethos by adopting and evolving a circular way of operating. It also contributes to the brand’s science-based targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 65 percent by 2030.
As of May 19, customers will be able to access Arc’teryx Used Gear resale initiatives through the ReBird program and purchase its upcycled Stowe Windshell, made from end-of-the-roll materials reclaimed from production with its first upcycled products made from post-consumer materials—Upcycled Tote and Pouch. Customers can also use the program to explore its Care and Repair services.
To mark the ReBird launch, Arc’teryx will host used gear pop-ups in select stores in New York City and Chicago this summer::
- Arc’teryx Bleecker, NYC, May 20-22
- Arc’teryx Soho, NYC, May 27-29
- Arc’teryx Chicago, June 17-19
Customers will be able to shop merchandise from the brand’s used gear line which includes totes, pouches and the Stowe Windshellat for the first time since the ReBird program launched in 2019. Prior to resale, the used gear will have been inspected, cleaned and repaired.
“At Arc’teryx we have always built products that last, and durability is crucial to how we see ourselves contributing to a more circular economy and achieving our global climate goals,” said Katie Wilson, senior manager social & environmental sustainability. “It enables us to do fun work like make a new product from old, resell used gear and repair. While some of this work has been happening as long as we’ve been in existence, some of it is brand new.”
The digital ReBird platform will serve as an interactive space for education where customers can learn more about the brand’s evolution in designing products that perform while being made to be re-crafted and made from renewable materials.
“To us, circularity means continuously seeking to design out waste and pollution from our systems and to respect the resources of our finite planet,” said Wilson. “ReBird is one way that Arc’teryx is bringing this to life.”
