Saalbach-Hinterglemm Invests In An Overall Energy-efficient Solution From Technoalpin
With its latest generation pumping system, BBSH Bergbahnen Saalbach-Hinterglemm GmbH is investing in a fully equipped, energy-efficient solution to promote ongoing snow safety. In future, the new Rosswald reservoir with a volume of approximately 230,000 m3will multiply the snow-making capacity of the previously used pond thanks to a particularly effective solution. World market leader, TechnoAlpin, has been appointed general contractor for the pumping station. "As we already purchase our snow guns from TechnoAlpin, it makes sense to use a single source," explained Alexander Gensbichler, BBSH CEO. "The perfect interaction of pumps and snow guns in a control system will also have a positive impact on energy efficiency".
Energy-efficient system
The pumping station in Hinterglemm is one of the new generation systems. The water can be drawn directly from the reservoir without pre-pressure pumps. Variable speed pumps ensure energy-efficient usage when the system is not being used to full capacity. Furthermore, thanks to efficient grouping, only twelve pumps are needed for the total output of 3,225 KW. An overall pump output of 540 L/s ensures that the supply reaches all snow guns at the same time.
The latest sensors have been installed in the machine room. These can measure and transmit several values simultaneously. The digital components provide a comprehensive overview of current system status and report any defects to the snow team. This technology makes ski resorts easier to maintain and saves time for the whole team.
Especially designed TechnoAlpin cooling towers are also used in Hinterglemm. These have become much more energy-efficient over time. The individual system components for this project were designed by TechnoAlpin to minimize the cubic volume of the building and to simplify the structure with maintenance-friendly use of space.
