Marty’s Ski & Board Shop And Backcountry Join Forces To Provide Gear And Rentals To Park City

Marty’s Ski & Board Shop, an award-winning full-service ski/snowboard tuning and repair shop based in Park City, Utah, announces a new venture with Backcountry, the premier specialty retailer of outdoor gear and apparel, officially opening this fall in the same location as Marty’s is today. Marty’s founder, Chip Bullen, will remain involved in the business in order to best serve the Park City community.

Since Bullen founded Marty’s in 2005 with his wife Kasidy, it has won numerous awards and lifelong customers thanks to Bullen’s sharp business acumen and dedication to customer service. Bullen, who has been snowboarding in Utah since the 1980s, named the store after his mother Marty, who is part of a legendary Utah ski family.

Marty’s is a full-service ski and snowboard shop in Park City, Utah. In addition to offering elite tune ups and repairs, Marty’s offers in-store and delivery ski, board and boot rental. The business was founded by Chip Bullen, a local snowboarding icon and passionate outdoorsman. Chip named the store after his mother, Marty, who was a skiing legend in Park City.

“Chip is a passionate and accomplished outdoors person dedicated to his customers and his community. He’s a living example of the intangible value locally owned businesses provide their communities,” says Melanie Cox, chief executive officer of Backcountry. “We are proud to partner with him and honor Marty’s heritage, while finding new and exciting ways to build upon it.”

As a company headquartered in Park City, Backcountry’s leadership has long respected Bullen and the business he has built. This relationship led to a collective realization of the potential to better serve the Park City community by joining forces.

“When I first learned Backcountry was opening a retail store across the street from Marty’s, I was obviously concerned about the potential impacts it would have on my business and customers,” says Chip Bullen. “Once I got to know the brand and the people behind it, I realized we were both dedicated to creating a best-in-class customer experience and a positive impact on the Park City community. I’m excited to see what we will accomplish together.”

In this new venture, Marty’s will provide the same services it has in the past under the same name, and Bullen will work as a consultant, helping to guide the operations of the store. Marty’s Ski and Board Shop is currently undergoing a light renovation and will reopen this fall. For more information, please reach out to Chip Bullen at chip@martysboardshop.com.
