Companies are prepared and the best Austrian summer mountain railways attract with quality checks and 87 themed locations

Numerous Austrian cable cars have started this year's summer season. "After an exceptional winter, our companies have prepared themselves perfectly for the coming months and are thus once again playing a central role in local tourism and leisure life," says Franz Hörl, chairman of the cable car association in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. The focus is on the offer of the best Austrian summer mountain railways, which was made even more attractive this year. "The now 73 member companies are staging 87 themed mountains this year, giving the classic mountain experience a modern and varied twist," says Kornel Grundner, spokesman for the best Austrian summer mountain railways.

"Last summer, many people took advantage of the restricted freedom of travel to get to know the local beauty. Most of the guests came from Austria and increasingly opted for day trips and individual trips. The proportion of young people, families and first-time customers was particularly high. We were able to offer them unique alpine experiences with the offers of the mountain railways.

This year, too, the focus is on the best Austrian summer mountain railways. On the initiative of the professional association of cable cars, the seal of approval has united the experts and pioneers of the local summer mountain tourism for 20 years. "In the meantime, 73 members stage a total of 87 themed mountains and create an important decision criterion for choosing a destination, especially for summer holidaymakers inexperienced in the mountains. Only companies that meet at least 160 quality criteria become members of the best Austrian summer mountain railways. Specialized in five themed worlds - adventure, family, panorama & Nature experience, enjoyment, art & culture - the members have to pass a recertification every three years ", explains Kornel Grundner, spokesman for the best Austrian summer mountain railways.

Relaxation and tranquility as an important addition to action and adventure

A quick survey among the members proves the currently particularly great importance of relaxation and variety in the mountains. "True to the motto 'enjoy nature from a distance', theme-related hiking experiences such as culinary hikes and offers such as sunrise trips or yoga on the mountain are particularly popular at the moment," says Grundner. In addition, action-packed bike parks and tours on e-mountain bikes are long-time favorites on Austria's mountains.
