Sympatex Recognized As “Best For The World 2021” By B Corp
Sympatex has been recognised for its outstanding performance in the area of sustainability. Continuous commitment in this area paved the way for this impressive result.
The Munich-based functional specialist received this award due to initiatives such as the European industry partnership wear2wear for the rapid closure of the textile cycle, for its offer of the world's first climate-neutral membrane, and for co-designing and being the first signatory of the "UN Fashion Industry Charter for Climate Action".
"We want to continue to work on our responsibility and use the impulses we experience through the network and through B Corp's intensive assessments and audits. They give us the opportunity to continually check whether we are working faithfully on our principles," says Dr. Rüdiger Fox, Sympatex CEO.
As a B Corp company, Sympatex Technologies must always meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and accountability in order to balance profit with purpose. For the pioneering functional textile specialist, the award is therefore a renewed motivation and confirmation to continue to work successfully with the global B Corp community to get better every day and positively influence all stakeholders in a sustainable way. After all, B Corporations are companies that even commit to social benefit and environmental sustainability in their company statutes.
Since the founding of the B Corp NGO in 2006, there are now over 4,000 certified B Corporations in more than 77 countries. The stated goal of reconciling profit maximisation with a social mission unites all B Corp companies on their journey towards a responsible, environmentally sustainable and socially fair future for business. Close to 800 B Corps from more than 50 countries were named to the 2021 Best for the World lists, including TOMS, Too Good To Go and Patagonia. "This year's Best for the World companies are operating at the very top of their class, excelling in creating positive impact for their stakeholders, including their workers, communities, customers and the environment. We're proud of the community of stakeholder-driven businesses we've cultivated over the last 15 years; together we're marching toward our collective vision of an inclusive, equitable and regenerative economic system for all people and the planet", said Juan Pablo Larenas, Executive Director of B Lab Global.
The B Corp certification is based on a company's verified performance in the so-called B Impact Assessment. The five categories of corporate governance, employees and impact on the environment, customers and society are assessed. Participating companies have to answer 200 questions, and the B Impact Assessment becomes more demanding every year. It is therefore all the more remarkable that Sympatex has received the award for the second time. Sympatex has already made it onto the B Corp list of best companies in 2019.
Sympatex CEO Dr. Rüdiger Fox is proud to be one of the "Best For The World™": "For us, sustainability is at the core of everything we do, and this award honours and confirms our years of ambitious commitment to closing the textile loop together with our brand partners and driving forward a sustainable textile industry.” Sympatex is aware of its great overall responsibility as a company and deliberately sets its sustainability goals high: "We want to do even better next year and live up to our pioneering role, because as the Sympatex slogan says 'We are the first generation,' - and we want to show it," adds Dr. Rüdiger Fox.
