Lenzerheide Bergbahnen Invests CHF 3.5mil In Weisshorn Chairlift
After the chairlift was in operation for the first time with a provisional summer permit in last year's Corona summer, Lenzerheide Bergbahnen AG invested around CHF 3.5 million in an extensive new concession. The summer operation of the Weisshorn Speed chairlift significantly expands the offer for hikers and bikers on the Rothorn.
In addition to a total of 76 new chairs with hoods, 38 separate bike transport vehicles were also purchased for summer operation. Together with the innovative comfort control for stress-free hanging and unhooking of the bikes, the Weisshorn Speed chairlift is state-of-the-art. “The new bike mounts and the control mode specially designed for bike transport are a true innovation and the combination is unique in Switzerland,” emphasizes Thomas Küng, CEO of LBB AG.
With the bike comfortably and stress-free on the mountain
With the separate bike vehicles, four bikes can be transported at the same time. Thanks to the slower speed at the valley station and the practical clip system, hanging up the bikes is particularly convenient. The bikers enjoy the promising ascent in the comfortable 6-seater armchair directly behind their carbon and aluminum horses. Once at the top, the innovative comfort control completely stops the front bike vehicle and enables bikers to unload their bikes safely and stress-free.
With the opening of the Weisshorn Speed chairlift, the range of trails in the Bike Kingdom has been expanded to include the extremely attractive trails in the “Red Peak” area. Special highlight: The Great White! Just in time for the first snowfall in autumn 2020, this latest splendid trail was completed in the rocky desert around the Weisshorn. From the Weisshorn Speed chairlift, the black Enduro Trail meanders through stone fields and, thanks to tables and step downs, invites you to fly lessons on the bike.
Even more comfortable on foot to Arosa
The summer operation of the Weisshorn Speed doesn't just make the hearts of bikers beat faster. Thanks to the possibility of ascent or descent, the chairlift between the Parpaner Rothorn and the Urdenfürggli complements the Arosa Lenzerheide hiking area perfectly. The stretch to the Urdenbahn and thus the hiking area of Arosa is significantly shortened - in both directions. For the first time this summer, the Mottahütte is also open when the weather is nice.
