Tirol Awards 'Seal Of Approval' To 51 Ski Areas
The family of natural toboggan runs, cross-country trails and slopes, which have been awarded the seal of quality of the State of Tyrol, has grown again this winter. With nine tracks awarded the seal of quality for natural toboggan runs for the first time, there are now 62 award-winning toboggan runs and 15 tourist regions that have been recognized for their cross-country trails. 51 ski areas carry the piste quality seal of the state of Tyrol.
“The Tyroleans appreciate the diverse winter sports opportunities in their own country more than ever. With the quality seals for toboggan runs, cross-country trails and slopes awarded by the State of Tyrol according to defined standards, we offer the population and our guests leisure activities of a very high quality and safety level. Personal responsibility cannot be replaced by a seal of approval, ”emphasizes LHStv Josef Geisler.
With the toboggan runs Nons-Hausstatt, Hausstatt-Mitterberg and Weidener Hütte-Innerst in Weerberg, the Grafenast-Egertboden and Egertboden-Burg Freundsberg routes on the Kellerjoch, as well as the Vomperberg natural toboggan run, six of the nine lifts that have been awarded the natural toboggan run seal of approval for the first time are located in the Schwaz district. The natural toboggan run Peeralm in Navis and the run operated by the Navis toboggan club are also new to the network of excellent toboggan runs. The Haag Alm in Hopfgarten has been added to the Kitzbühel district. There is a new addition to the cross-country skiing areas. The Zugspitzarena tourist association was awarded the Tyrolean cross-country quality seal for the first time for the Ehrwald, Lermoos and Biberwier cross-country ski area. The seals of approval have been awarded again to 17 ski areas, five cross-country skiing regions and nine toboggan runs.
Anyone who would like to wear the seal of approval for a piste, toboggan run or cross-country skiing area can apply to the State of Tyrol / Sports Department. Experts check compliance with the standards. This includes, for example, regular preparation and maintenance, safety precautions at danger spots, as well as labeling of the degree of difficulty or signage. A piste rescue service must also be available in ski areas. From the time of the award, the seal of approval is valid for five years for natural toboggan runs, for ski slopes and cross-country trails it is three years.
"In this very special winter, I would like to thank the tourism associations, ski areas, municipalities and private individuals who, despite the difficult framework conditions, make the cross-country trails, toboggan runs and slopes available to the population in the highest quality," said LHStv Josef Geisler in recognition of the solidarity and appeal local winter sports enthusiasts to take care of their own safety, to wear helmets when tobogganing and skiing and to observe the applicable rules.
