Saucony Runs With Backbone Media
Saucony, the global running lifestyle brand, has teamed up with Backbone Media to run point on its public relations efforts. As Saucony’s PR agency of record, Backbone will help bolster the brand’s storytelling and drive awareness for Saucony’s performance footwear, versatile apparel and “Run for Good” brand platform.
Founded in 1898, Saucony’s history runs deep in supporting and inspiring every type of runner through tried-and-tested design and innovation. What started as a two-story brick factory on the banks of the Saucony Creek in Kutztown, Pennsylvania, has evolved into a global powerhouse. Saucony offers a diverse collection of footwear—from timeless Originals to vegan sneakers and new performance designs made with award-winning technologies—along with an apparel line crafted from sustainably-sourced materials.
“More than ever, consumers care about what their brands stand for, prioritizing brands that are authentic, honest and transparent,” said Jessica Newton, senior marketing director for Saucony. “Backbone’s shared values of authenticity, well-being and community will help us further elevate our product and brand stories and reach a broader audience.”
From the road to the trail and everywhere in between, Saucony believes in the goodness of running: good performance, good health and good community. The company’s “Run for Good” platform works to help improve lives and communities through community-centric running initiatives, philanthropic programs and its company-sponsored Foundation.
“Some of our agency account managers have devotedly worn Saucony shoes since their high school cross-country and track days, so this is a dream client for us,” said Ian Anderson, vice president of public relations at Backbone. “The brand continues to be at the forefront of running performance and innovation, but it’s their commitment to broaden and support the running community that’s most compelling to us. We’re proud to be on the team.”
