Kitzbuhel and SkiData Launch Mobile Phone Lift Ticket
KitzSki is once again demonstrating its pioneering spirit, this time in terms of digitization. SKIDATA, the international leader in access solutions, has developed a digital form of the lift ticket as a contemporary alternative to the conventional ski pass. “This project keeps pace with the needs of the growing generation of skiers. The mobile ticket primarily appeals to digital natives and people interested in technology. In the medium term, however, the smartphone will also take its place here ”, says Mag. Anton Bodner, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel.
“Just in time” idea and flexibility
The smartphone has become an important tool that enables various forms of communication and also facilitates everyday life and leisure. “More and more often, the decision to buy is made spontaneously - even when skiing. With the mobile phone ticket we are increasing the flexibility in terms of time and space for our guests, ”explains Mag. Christian Wörister, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel. If you use the mobile phone ticket, you save yourself the trip to the cash register and the associated waiting time. How does the mobile phone ticket work? First step: Download the "Mobile Flow by Skidata" app (available in the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store). Second step: Follow the user-friendly introductory steps. Third step: Buy and download the ticket in the webshop at shop.kitzski.at. Fourth step: Ensure internet connection. Note: Guests can use KitzSki's WLAN free of charge. Step five: Leave the Mobile Flow app activated. Sixth step: put your smartphone in a jacket pocket on the left side (for example your ski jacket) and go through the turnstile as usual.
“The experience gained from this pilot project on the Kitzbüheler Horn is important for the future. We are proud to develop this technology together with SKIDATA. The first SKIDATA field tests have already shown that the Mobile Flow Solution works perfectly, ”says Walter Astl, CEO of Bergbahn Kitzbühel.
Franz Holzer, Managing Director of SKIDATA Austria, emphasizes: “Our focus is always on making winter sports more pleasant and safer and on offering our guests even more fun. With the ski pass on your mobile phone, we make it even easier to enjoy skiing. Kitzbühel is the perfect partner for the world's first use of the Mobile Flow Solution. I dare to predict that in the next three to five years more and more mountain railway operators will be interested in this digital alternative to the classic ski pass, because more warm welcome to young guests is not possible. ”The open and modular architecture of SKIDATA's Management Software Summit. Logic supports the integration of the Mobile Flow Solution from version 3 upwards. The digital ski passes are of course also taken into account in the evaluations of the mountain railway operators. Existing SKIDATA access systems can easily be expanded so that the parallel operation of digital ski passes and RFID cards is possible without any problems.
