MND Works With Cortina World Champs On Avalanche Control
World No. 1 in avalanche prevention, MND, through its MND SAFETY hub, has secured the new Vertigo men's downhill slope intended for the Alpine Skiing World Championships which began this week.
While the weather conditions were particularly difficult and postponed the start of the events to Thursday 11 February, the MND SAFETY teams remained mobilized all week to allow those in charge on site to carry out numerous preventive trips to ensure safety. tracks, skiers, teams but also infrastructures. Trips carried out on their 20 O’BellX removable solutions as well as thanks to the DaisyBell, a helicopter-borne system that complements the stations installed on slopes to quickly secure a specific point.
A preparation of the slopes which had started at the beginning of December due to the very heavy snowfall and which had made it possible to validate the use of the O’bellX systems in difficult conditions with no less than 15 shooting sessions.
Alongside the Province of Belluno and the Fondazione Cortina 2021, MND was entrusted with this security project with a goal of minimal impact on the ecosystem while guaranteeing maximum protection. With 20 removable systems, Obell'X, as well as real-time weather monitoring solutions; the chosen approach is intended to be as detailed as possible to prevent and allow control of the danger before / during / after.
Safe for staff and with a minimal footprint on the site, the solutions chosen respect the Dolomites Natural Park thanks to a patented technology that replaces the solid explosive with a gas mixture.
