Tyrol Awards Snowsports Areas 'Seal Of Approval'

With the respective seals of approval, the state of Tyrol guarantees quality and safety on ski slopes, natural toboggan runs and cross-country trails. This year, too, the group of award-winning winter sports destinations that meet the strict criteria has been expanded again. Many awards have also been extended. This means that a total of 64 natural toboggan runs, 50 ski areas and 23 cross-country ski trails now have a seal of approval in Tyrol. “I am pleased that we have such a wide range of excellent winter sports facilities available in Tyrol and I would like to thank all operators who always try to create the best conditions for safe leisure time enjoyment, even in these challenging times. Tyrol stands for winter sports at the highest level, ”explains sports advisor LHStv Josef Geisler.

Strict criteria for quality seals
Businesses and tourism associations throughout Tyrol can apply for a seal of approval for ski areas, natural toboggan runs and cross-country trails. The quality and safety criteria include, for example, sufficient and uniform signage, regular preparation and maintenance as well as a correct classification of the route according to the level of difficulty. From the time of the award, the seal of approval is valid for five years on natural toboggan runs. For ski and cross-country skiing areas, the period of validity is three years. Businesses and tourism associations can apply for an extension after the seal of approval has expired.
“In ski areas, natural toboggan runs and cross-country ski trails with the Tyrolean seal of approval, nothing stands in the way of a relaxing and safe day of winter sports. Nevertheless, it is everyone's responsibility to comply with the applicable rules of conduct and to ensure their own safety. Always wear a helmet when tobogganing and skiing and also adhere to the applicable Corona regulations when doing sports, ”LHStv Geisler appeals to the athletes' personal responsibility and solidarity.
