Ron LeMaster Dead
Multiple sources are reporting the death of Ron LeMaster, coach, author and all round ski expert.
According to Boulder County Sherriffs office:
"On Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Boulder County Communications Center received a 911 call from Eldora Ski Area regarding a collision between a skier and a snowboarder at the resort. Ski patrol reported that the collision had occurred on the “Windmill” run and that the skier was unconscious and not breathing. As deputies and medical personnel were responding, ski patrol continued resuscitative efforts, including CPR, and a medical helicopter was placed on air standby.
"The 72-year-old male skier, a Boulder resident, was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene at 11:43 a.m. The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time pending notification of his next of kin. The snowboarder, a male resident of Wellington, CO, was interviewed at the scene by deputies and detectives with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, following treatment for injuries that he had sustained from the collision. No criminal charges have been filed at this time and the investigation is ongoing."
Multiple sources have now identified Ron LeMaster as the victim.
LeMaster spent more than 30 years as a ski instructor and race coach. Certified and accredited by the Professional Ski Instructors of America, LeMaster was a technical advisor to the U.S. ski team and Vail Ski School, and he lectured frequently about technique and biomechanics to ski schools and teams around North America, South America, and Europe.
Ron was the author of books such as Ultimate Skiing, Essential Guide to Skiing and many other articles and seminars, with great influence on technical engineering.
A regular contributor to skiing magazines, LeMaster also had written technical guides for the Professional Ski Instructors of America. He held degrees in mechanical engineering and computer science.
Ron was one of very few people who changed the way we think about skiing. He was also a good guy.
