Fischer Updates On Manufacturing Facility In Mukachevo
For over 30 years the manufacturing facility in Mukachevo, Ukraine has been an important pillar of support for Fischer along with the manufacturing at the home base in Ried im Innkreis, Austria. During the night of October 12 -13th, 2020 a fire broke out. Essentially the entire building and the main machinery for the production of Alpine and cross country ski inside were destroyed.
Immediately upon completion of the investigation and processing of the site, removal of the remains of the old building began at the end of 2020. A new 22,000m² (236,800ft²) manufacturing hall- approximately the size of three football fields- was constructed on exactly the same location as the original, burned down factory.
After eight months of construction, installation of the first new production equipment began. As of the beginning of November 2021, the new manufacturing hall, including technical infrastructure, was completed. Through the end of 2021, all essential equipment for ski manufacturing will be installed on-site and put into operation. Beginning in January 2022, manufacturing operations will be ramped up progressively. The 22l23 collection will then be produced in these new, technologically advanced facilities with state-of-the-art infrastructure.
Facts & figures:
The following material was used:
- 3,500m³ of concrete, 350 tons of iron, 750m² of bricks, 650 tons of steel for the hall construction and 54,000 linear meters of cable.
- Including the equipment, this adds up to about 380 truckloads of material that had to be transported to Ukraine.
