Spot fills in the gaps left by health insurance companies by covering up to $25,000 of accidental medical expenses in the event of a guest injury. Spot can be used with or without traditional health insurance, and has no insurance network restrictions.
“We are excited to share this unique benefit to our guests as we head into the winter,” said Matt Thomas, Director of Risk Management at Telluride Ski & Golf. “We strive to make our mountain as safe as possible for all visitors, but skiing is an inherently dangerous sport. This benefit offers additional coverage for our guests should an accident occur. ”
Spot coverage allows Telluride visitors to receive treatment at any licensed physician, hospital, or urgent care clinic. Once they receive their first bill, they can file a claim through Spot’s website by taking pictures of the bill on their phones, explaining how they were injured, and answering a few other questions. After quick communications through email and chat, Spot’s claims team coordinates payment via check to the visitor or their healthcare provider.
“Last winter, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, over 59 million skiers visited U.S. resorts, seeking outdoor activities they could participate in safely, meaning more foot traffic and higher potential for injuries,” said Matt Randall, co-founder and CEO of Spot. “Spot is excited to partner with Telluride Ski & Golf Resort to provide peace of mind for the hundreds of thousands of skilled and new skiers who will hit the Telluride slopes in the upcoming ski season.”
