Rab And Lowe Alpine To Add Huw James To Their Ambassador Roster
British outdoor brands Rab and Lowe Alpine (owned by Equip Outdoor Technologies Ltd.) are excited to add UK adventurer and climate expert Huw James to their ambassador roster. Besides being an active mountaineer and runner, Huw has a background in Astronomy and Space Science and a Fellow of both the Royal Geographical and Royal Astronomical Societies. Huw also co-runs The Athlete Climate Academy, educating athletes about climate change and the science of the outdoors.
Huw has travelled the world talking about science to live audience totalling over three quarters of a million people on six continents. He mixes outdoor adventure with education, doing live classroom talks from the glaciers of the high Alps, the Amazon jungle, the fissures of Iceland and the slopes of Mt Etna. Amongst other things, he works with National Geographic Society to train the next generation of Explorers and co-runs The Athlete Climate Academy with Kilian Jornet.
The Athlete Climate Academy is a series of live and recorded sessions to give athletes the knowledge and confidence to talk about global warming and our changing environment to their peers, followers and brand partners. It’s a brand-new initiative but already includes live sessions, recorded interviews, downloadable content and educational materials for schools.
Jim Evans, Marketing Director at Equip, explains: “We have worked with Huw for several years and it is extremely exciting to officially welcome him to our Mountain People family. He shares the same passion and excitement for the mountains and the outdoors that we at Rab and Lowe Alpine feel. Furthermore, his expertise regarding the science of global warming and environmental issues is outstanding and we are very much looking forward to him helping our staff, athletes, ambassadors and customers increase their knowledge and awareness of the issues our planet faces.”
Equip is a certified Climate Neutral Company, aiming to reach Net Zero carbon emissions by 2030. The company’s strategy is based on Science Based Targets and verified by climate solutions provider South Pole.
