Germanyrush - Bike Race From Dortmund To The Kitzbuhel Alps
Just ride your bike, enjoy the landscape, have a good workout - and be cared for like a professional: The DeutschlandRUSH runs from Dortmund to Kirchberg in Tirol in the Kitzbühel Alps from September 4th to 9th, 2021. There are six attractive stages in front of the starters with a total of 871 kilometers and 9140 meters of altitude. For the new edition, the route managers Eva Kruse and Heiko Janik have designed a completely new route this year - the around 40 racing cyclists from the BVB Dortmund stadium head south-east almost exclusively on back roads and country roads.
The special thing about it: DeutschlandRUSH is not a race. Instead of fighting against each other, the drivers fight in a team. Organizer Hans-Peter Kreidl is certain: “You don't need a start number for great personal triumphs”. "The athletes go to their limits here, give full throttle with friends and experience the days intensively in a group". So that the drivers can concentrate fully on cycling, the landscape and their performance, the event organizers have put together a real all-round carefree package: Accommodation with half board, route catering, luggage transport, material trolleys and photo service - all included.
The starting point and destination are not chosen at random. The towns of Brixen im Thale, Kirchberg in Tirol and Westendorf are not only sponsors of DeutschlandRUSH. The holiday region in the heart of the Alps is also a proud partner of Borussia Dortmund. "We want to strengthen the connection between Dortmund and the Kitzbüheler Alpen," says Max Salcher, Managing Director of the Kitzbüheler Alpen-Brixental Tourism Association. Because the distance is smaller than it usually appears. "DeutschlandRUSH shows how close we actually are - that is a nice signal."
The board members of KitzSki, Mag. Anton Bodner and Mag. Christian Wörister, have high expectations of the event: “With the successful premiere of the Kitzbühel Cycle Marathon, we have already set an example. The mountain summer in Kitzbühel and Kirchberg offers countless opportunities for all types of cycling. With DeutschlandRUSH, we would like to make the diverse range of KitzSki even better known in the Ruhr metropolis - for summer and winter. "
The starting shot for the new DeutschlandRUSH will be given on the morning of September 4th in Signal Iduna Park, the legendary BVB stadium in Dortmund. From there the route leads over the Ruhr Valley Cycle Path and further into the Sauerland. The drivers fight their way past the Sorpesee on the Kahler Asten and further and further south-east. At least as spectacular: the destination six days later. On September 9th, the DeutschlandRUSH peloton will reach the Kitzbüheler Alpen - Brixental region.
