SMI's John Parker Retires
After a 50-year career in the ski industry, SMI Snow Makers John Parker retired March 31, 2021.
John started in the ski industry in 1971, as General Manager of Strobel’s ski shop south of Rochester, NY. He moved throughout the ski industry from GM of Peak n’ Mountain, PA to Operations Manager at Peak N’ Peak in Clymer, NY and then to Smugglers Notch, VT.
In 1988, John joined Kodak (Snomax) in sales and service in the North East. He later transitioned to SMI where he went from purchasing SMI products (during his time working at ski resorts) to selling and servicing them across New England.
John’s favorite part of his job has been “meeting different people and building lifelong relationships along with helping SMI customers develop world-class snowmaking systems.”
John is looking forward to spending more time fishing and with his family. Especially those he hasn’t been able to see over the past year.
“JP has always been passionate about snowmaking and willing to climb towers, drop into sumps and roll up his sleeves to help customers” said SMI President Joe VanderKelen. “The SMI team would like to thank him for his many years of service and for putting our customers first. We wish him well in his retirement.”
SMI’s Dave Reed (775) 400-0441 is now the technical representative for the North East territory.
