Mammut Celebrates Earth Day With Protect Our Winters & ClimateUnited
Mammut announces new partnerships with Protect Our Winters (POW) and ClimateUnited as part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability. Mammut is dedicated to making meaningful and lasting connections within its company, across communities and around the world, united by a passion for the mountains and advancing positive change across its sustainability and supply chain. Mammut’s position on sustainability features three key levels of commitment: driving personal change, driving local change and driving global change.
“A central value pillar at Mammut is growing stronger together. We believe in the power of teamwork and community, both on and off the mountains, for working toward a better, more sustainable future together,” said Mammut Marketing and CSR Account Manager, Nora Fierman. “Through a deep reliance on each other and trust earned over time, we will continue to advance positive change across our community and world. Partnerships with industry-leading organizations like ClimateUnited and POW are extremely important for working toward these goals and we’re thrilled to hit the ground running with these partnerships for Earth Day.”
In order to help our communities fight climate change and build resilience against the impacts of climate change, it’s essential that we think and act on a local level. Together with Protect Our Winters (POW) and ClimateUnited, Mammut wants to empower our local outdoor communities to have strong voices and push climate policies, particularly those that contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with the United Nations Development Programme as well as the Climate Commitments of the Paris Agreement.
POW is a nonprofit created by Jeremy Jones that focuses its efforts on climate change legislation regarding climate change. The organization leads a community of athletes, creative-pioneers and business leaders to achieve this mission by striving to turn outdoor enthusiasts into climate advocates.
ClimateUnited is Snowsports Industries of America’s (SIA) initiative to unite the winter outdoor industry around meaningful climate action. Climate United sets companies up around a set of commitments in the Winter Outdoor Industry Climate Pact, and then provides specific guidance to meet those commitments through a proven roadmap, tools and resources to facilitate the journey. Mammut has already met all of the commitments of the pact as part of its internal sustainability goals, and will continue to work with ClimateUnited to provide peer-to-peer educational videos for consumers and industry leaders.
In addition to these partnerships, Mammut is continuing to put its efforts into its new product collections that highlight the brand’s commitment to sustainability. These products include the award-winning 9.5 Crag We Care Classic Rope ($149.95) made of virgin material residual yarn, unused yarn leftover from production off-cuts, the Albula Hardshell Hooded Jacket ($179), Albula Hardshell Half Zip Hooded Jacket ($175) and Albula Hardshell Pants ($159) made of 100% recycled polyester, all of which offer PFC-free DWR, as well as a number of additional products that are PFC-free and bluesign approved, including its Recovery Series of Relax, Protect and Performance sleeping bags.
