Solitude Makes Improvements And Modifications Ahead Of 20 - 21 Season
Solitude Mountain Resort is pleased to announce a broad array of initiatives intended to provide reassurance and healthful choices to its guests during the 20/21 ski season. Scheduled to open November 20, conditions and circumstances permitting, Solitude welcomes its mountain community back to enjoy outdoor recreation in the relaxed family atmosphere of Big Cottonwood Canyon.
Solitude President & COO Kim Mayhew says, “Throughout this longer-than-usual offseason, as Solitude skiers, snowboarders, and staff have looked forward to the exhilaration of winter, we have been working hard to understand and adopt best practices to prioritize the health and well-being of our employees, guests, and community.”
Among other upgrades, the Solitude website and added signage on site will always provide the latest information. Below is a summary of changes and improvements that guests can expect when visiting Solitude this winter.
As guests arrive, they will be able to pay for parking via touchless technology, including applying their carpool discount. Ikon Pass and Solitude season pass holders, as well as Solitude Ticket Pak holders, will be able to proceed directly to the chairlifts without stopping at a ticket office, while signage and staff will work to maintain appropriate physical distancing at all lift lines. Indoor facilities, public restrooms, guest shuttles, and staff vans will all be cleaned more frequently, including disinfection with electrostatic sprayers. Touchless faucets, soap dispensers, and paper towel dispensers in all public restrooms, plus hand sanitizer stations in strategic locations, will allow for effective personal sanitization with fewer points of physical touch. Additional, temporary public restroom facilities will be available at the Moonbeam base area to reduce queueing.
Guests will be asked to wear a mask properly fitted over the nose and mouth when indoors and when within 6 feet of other people, and Solitude will provide masks for those who forgot to bring their own. Employee uniforms will include protective gear appropriate to each team member’s duties, environment, and interactions with others.
For guests who wish to indulge in Solitude’s outstanding, chef-driven culinary landscape, outdoor seating will be expanded, including heaters in some areas. A greater variety of grab-and-go options will be available, and all dining and bar locations will limit capacity to allow for social distancing. The Solitude Village Store, in its new location on the main level of The Inn at Solitude, will offer take-and-bake family meals as a convenient option for lodging guests. New signage, dedicated entry and exit doors, reconfigured seating, and additional staff will encourage one-way flow and get guests back on the slopes with maximum efficiency.
The iconic and much-loved dinner experience of The Yurt at Solitude will take place in Solitude Village at St. Bernard’s Restaurant this year, allowing for greater distancing between tables, while still following the traditional pre-dinner snowshoe hike through snowy woods.
Inside rental shops, guests can expect a streamlined experience as Solitude staff use text messages to manage the flow of guests within the shop. Reservations will be required for rentals and lessons, and rental equipment will be thoroughly sanitized after each use, including disinfection with electrostatic sprayers.
For guests who will plan to stay on site, enhanced cleaning protocols have been developed for all lodging units, including disinfection with electrostatic sprayers following each checkout. Lodging in Solitude Village includes access to Club Solitude’s heated outdoor pool, hot tubs, game room, and exercise facility, now operating with metered capacity, time-designated reservations, and additional sanitization protocols to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Solitude Mountain Spa will continue to welcome guests seeking relaxation with massage services only, face coverings required, and appointments spaced to allow for enhanced room and equipment disinfection.
