Snowboarders Successfully Kick Off Winter Season At The Hotzone.tv Park Opening At Hintertux Glacier
The new winter season kicked off successfully last weekend at the 16th Hotzone.tv Park Opening from Oct. 1st – 4th at Hintertux glacier. Riders gather every year at betterpark Hintertux to start into the new season together. Despite difficult circumstances due to the pandemic, the on-snow events on the mountain took place, while all side-events took a break this year. Health and safety of all involved were highest priority for the organizers.
The weather wasn’t in favour of the riders this weekend, after a beautiful kick-off on Thursday with blue skies a storm came on Friday. The first day saw the highlight of the Opening, the Werni Stock Invitational on the Pro Jump at betterpark Hintertux. A perfectly prepared park in combination with the beautiful weather provided base for a terrific first day. Werni Stock invited his friends to his local resort for the first Big Air session of the season, among them Olympic Champion Anna Gasser. The atmosphere on the mountain was great and everyone was happy to shred together in the park. The best riders of the day took home the titles and € 500 prize-money each. Werni Stock is proud about the first edition of his event:
"I am so happy that we made the right call to run the session on Thursday after seeing the weather forecast. The weather was beautiful, perfect winter conditions, good snow. It was important for me that the Invitational is a cool session, where everyone has a good time and enjoys riding, more then a contest with inflexible rules. This event means a lot to me and I’m really stoked about the successful premiere.“

Heavy wind made it impossible to ride the park or run the Metal Battle Rail Contest hosted by SANE!Snowboarding on Friday and Saturday. For Sunday the weather didn’t really got better, but the jibbers decided to still hit the rails, which were built close by Tuxer Fernerhaus. Pro riders and amateurs were in good spirits and showed crazy tricks on these features despite most adverse conditions. The daring show of the rail specialists was the perfect end of this year’s Hotzone.tv Park Opening.
