Graham Bell Joins Dancing On Ice Lineup
Olympian Graham Bell has been revealed as the latest celebrity to join the forthcoming Dancing on Ice 2021 lineup. SIN is so excited that zzzzzzzzzzz. Oh sorry, dozed off. Graham will perhaps be more enthused and is no doubt sprinting to the bank with an extraordinarily large cheque.
The former skier was announced this past weekend alongside fellow athlete Colin Jackson CBE, as the hit ITV show speeds up momentum ahead of its release in the New Year.
The two sportsmen are well known to each other. "Colin is an excellent pupil because I actually coached him on Ski Sunday in 2007 and he's one of the trainees that takes on information so well," he said.
Swapping skis for ice skates, Bell will be hoping to take his considerable experience in the cold into account, but said that it was the dancing component of the show that scares him the most.
“Ice doesn’t scare me, it’s the dancing!
“In that department, my experience is limited to dancing on tables, wearing ski boots in apres ski. It’s not graceful and elegant!”
Bell is best known for his time as an Olympic skier, representing Great Britain at five Winter Olympics.
Since retiring, he has presented and commentated on a number of BBC shows, including Ski Sunday and High Altitude.
But now he takes on a new challenge, with Bell admitting that the ‘transferable skills of edge control and balance’ will be useful on the ice.
With names such as actress Denise Van Outen and singer Jason Donovan also announced thus far, Dancing on Ice is set to be a star-studded lineup for 2021.
Hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby return for the new series, with training set to begin next month.
